Some of the Absurdities Into Which Msjor Anderson’s Organ Hes Fallen, The machine politicians and hossos are floundering about badly in their attempt to bolster uptheir claims, and of theso the leading Anderson organ in this city is a laughable example It urges Anderson’s election because the prominent positions belong to these who fought for their country. Yetno where is thore a hint that John Chapman would be willing to let some deserving soldier tako the United Staves marshalship, to which he clings 8o tenaciously. ‘“‘Colonel” Chap. man thinks it is ‘“‘awful” because voters will not forget that 1,000 bond given by Anderson, and protests against a mud throwing campaign, and yet he indulges in mud-making as well as mud-throwing himself. He denounces Pusey because he is a banker, and yet praises the banking system. He claims that there are no disaflected republicans, and yet wastes columns in trying to whip ‘‘the bolt- ers” mto line.
