The democratic convention held hers last week Geo. P, Williams of this city for judge of this nominated district; P. J. Goss, of Oaceol for prosecuting attorney; and J. W. [Tt has one apartment for photography, with 300 square feet of skylights, and W, K. Ball is the architect. The Summit house has added on a large new extension, and continues to spread out to the westward as the star of empire takes its way towards Nebraska where so muny Iowa people are just now investing. Juet west of the Summit the new opera house walls are reaching up to the second story, and acrosa the track the Revier house is another favorite hotel. KLOAS AND HEMMER keep their great flouring mill at work night and day, and make several brands of choice flour, aud have just opened a fine stock of flour and ieed in the Eagle block, as the ptoneer feed store of the city, where they will keep the “‘all sorts.” Their mill has been built three or four years, and they have established themselves as thor ough business men, and really doing a strong and safe business, Grant & Johneon, while legally set- tling the question of the delivery of a large corn contract, are practically under a cloud and not doing much Meanwhile Dow has taken the corn in his own hands, and is shelling and de- livering it to himsclf. There is no signs of new railroad shops or car hwtnry but the county institute has just closed with a large attendance, say 150. 8. L. RUSSELL, the adjutant of John A. Rawlins post of the G. A.
