At Least, He so Confesses Herself, and Gives His Reasons for He: Actions, Carton, (0.) §p cial to Cinnelnnati Enquirer Quite a romantic affair was unearth- ed by Turnkey Wagner at the county jail here on the morning of July 24 Among the prisoners is a young follow registered as George Miller, aged six teen, who, with a youthful companion named William Seigler, was sent up from Alliance last Saturday for petit larceny. Miller has a feminine voice and featuaes,and with girlish timidity avoided the other prisoners as much as possible. He always wore his coat and hat, and was evidently trying to hide himself. These and other strange ac- tions led the turnkey to believe that Miller in reality was a girl. This morning he visited Miller in his cell, and after plying him with searching questiona, lea him to confess the fact that “‘he” belonged to the geniler sex. With this confession she began weeping bitterly. The sto'y ehe relates is a novel and intervesting one. Her maiden name is ‘ather Miller, and her home 18 in Beollefonte, Penunsylvania, where her patents died in 1876, They were quite poor, and she aud an elder brother were loft to provide for thomsclves. Miss Miller is of fair complexion, although taaned consid- erably, snd, if attived in female apparel, would be quito a handsome young girl. Her conversation and bearing were ladylike and reserved, She firat donned male attire in Har- visburg, Pa., three years ago, when but thircesn years of ago. Her rea soi was that she desired to elude a lover who wanted her to olope with him, aud upon her refusal to comply with his wish he threatencd her life and followed her about wherever she went, This breamas very annoying to her, and fearing that ho might carry out his threat, her brother suggested the change of attire, Accordingly one mght he took her to an eut-of-the- way place aud had a barber clip her hair and blacken her eyebrows, The brother then purchased suit of clothes for her, and ever since sho has worn male appurel, but now, upon be discnvered, she seoms anx ious to assume the garments suited to her sex.
