The clubs have closed and hall owners and livery keepers are suffering trom the spring fever and the blues while the young man with aslender purse and extrava- gant tastos is correspondingly jubilant. He will remain in this state until the ailor’s bill for his spring suit puts in an appearance. Speaking about suits there is some talk of the possible ap- pearance of knee breeches on several pair of limbs this spring owing to the announcement that these medeiaval garments have already become promi- nent in several New York drawing rooms. In Omaha, if worn at all, they will be worn by the largest calves. When there is nothing else to do, gossip reignsaupreme. Emerson says that all conversation isat an end when we have discharged ourselves of a dozen porsonalities, domestic or imported, This may be the case in Boston, but doesn't hold good in Omaha. A dozen personulities wouldn’t make a three minutes con- versation in an Omaha seance. It is rumored that a bald headed Douglas street merchant is matrimonially in- clined, end that his courage has passed the sticking point. The niece of a railroad official is mentioned in the same connection. Five young lawyers all of whom consider themselves pro- minent, admit the soft imeachment of impending marriage. The county judge smiles all over as he studies plans for his new residence near Hanscom park, and thinks of the approach of fall. Several other little rumors of a cor- responding mnature are whispered around town. The ladies of Trinity cathedral have finally decided upon giving ‘*The Miseltoe Bough” some time during the summer. Lt. M. C. Foote, of ¥t. Omaha, has volun- teered his services as drill master, and rehearsals will shortly begin in earn- est. Quite a large number of residents at Omaha were guests at the last hop at Fort Omaha, on “Wednesday evening. Three parties went out from the city, chaperoned by Mrs. Col. Royall, Mrs. R. R. Ringwalt and Mra. Major Furey. 'k, and which been reported heretofore, was a genuine testimonial to the re- gard 1n which this valuable railroad official and genial gentleman is held in this community. Many regrets are heard over his approaching departure from this city. It is now known that Mr. Fred Nash, his private secretary, who counts his friends in Omaha by the score, will accompany him to his new field of labor in Milwaukee. Mr. Nash will be much missed among his associaves, . The wedding carda of Col. J. J. Dickey, which put in an appearance on Saturday, occasioned some surprise except among his intimate friends, to whom his engagement had been known for some time. Miss Emresa Jordan is well known in Omaha society, having spent a portion of last fall in this city. The ceremony occurs on Tuesday afternoon, April 25th, at four o'clock, in the Union M.
