Mr. Thos. Powers, the big stock man of this section of country, is, however, do- ing considerable in the feeding line. About New Year's he made a large shipment of stock to Chic and he has yet nearly 400 fat catt in his yards A porfion of these are fed in Hamilton coun- ty, where the hail did not strike, and where the corn was ages and sizes, to pick up the offal. The corn for this stock, of which 1t tukes an immense amount has cost on average this winter, about 24 cents per bushel. The weathcr has been most favorable, and the stock of all kinds is doing excellent, and no doubt Mr. Powers will mako money out of his feeding, notwithstunding the high prices offered. Jerseys as Milkers York Tribune: Rev. B. F. Sharp owns five Jersey cows, four of which give milk. The milk of these four cows produce twenty-two pounds of butter per week which finds a ready market at 26 cents per pound. Those four cows therefore create an income of §5.00 per week, or $286 a year. This is equal to $71 50 per head, or about twice the cost of the animal. Nothing pays a larger dividend on the on the mvestment than good stock, unless it be of good stock. Profits of Sheep Raising.
