A swit has been commenced before Justice Powell of this city, which will | be of considerable interost to trades- men, as it involves the liability of | parents for purchases made by minor children, It seems that not long since » young lady, about fifteen years of age, entered a prominent dry goods 4 house in this city and desired the clerk to progure tor hera cloak of suitable size, naming the quality de- sired. The clerk informed her that it would be necessary to have one made expressly for her, as it was an unusual size which sho desired. To this she con- sented and anorder was sent to theman- ufacturers and the cloak in due time arrived. Upon being notified of its arrival the young lady called at the store to seo !iw cloak and pronounced it perfect. She thereupon told tne clerk she would go and wet a check from her father for the price of the cloak and would then call and pay for it and take it away. Nothing being heard from her for several days the father of the young lady was inter- viewed and flatly refused to take the cloak or to pay for any damages on account of his refusal.
