The Hull-Bisbeo Florida contested seat case will be called up in a fow days. Itis not considered probable that Bisbee will carry his point, as Hull has the tion of most all in- fluential politicians of Florida. The calendar of the houe, a is well known, is very much crowded, and there is but very slight prospects of getting through. Many of the bills, centaialy the billa of tie house that have to go the senate, will have but a slight chance, but there are on the privato calondar a number of sen- ate bills, and the affirmative action of the house would pass these bills. Mr. Carlisle tried to-dsy to have an order made for an evening session to. morrow to take up the senate bills on the private calendar, and consider them. Mr. Coffroth ybjected because the house, a fow days ago, rofused him an evening session to consider pension bills. After_discussion the question was then taken on Mr. Carlislo’s substi- tute for the fifth section, and it was declared carried on a diision of 99 to 97. Tellers wero then demanded ,and it was again carrlod by a vote of 128 to 101 The vote excited a good deal of interest. Mr. Updegrafl, of Ohio, moved o amend the title of the bill, to mako it road, “A bill to defest rofunding; to increase the amount of interest of the pablic debt; to contract the currency and injure the public credit; and to depross the business industr'es of the country.” This motion received 59 votes, and there were 11 sgainst it. The committce then rose, and the bill 88 amended was reported to the house. ‘The previous qtiestion was scconded 80 as to bring the matter up as unfin- ished business to-morrow. It ia not likely the yeas and nays will be called on all the amendments. The house adjouraed at 5:20 p. m, OPEN YOR ARGUMENT. ‘Special Dispatch to Tun Bax. WASHINGTON, January 19—1 a. n1. —The committee on foreign affairs held a meeting yesterday, aud gave a hearing to W. H. He advo- cated the abrogation of the Clayton- Bulwer tresty, as soon as the time would permit, by tho terms of said treaty, and said that the Nicarsguan canal could be built in four or five years. He could build it in this time, and if he should receive for doing so 50,000,000 he could make himselt one or two millions a year. He stated that it was an old policy of Franceto bulld & canal to gradually absorb the territory, and England would favor any such scheme for the same purpose, and with an ultimate hope of gaining its ultimate control. In his opinion, Nicaragua was the only spot on God's earth where a canal could be bullt. Ex-Secretary Thomp- son followed it support of the Pana- ma ship canal. Great Difficulty Experienced by Farmers in Obtairing Coal. Reprehensible Practice of the Railroads in the Fuel Trade. An Appeal to the Farmers to Renew the War on Monopoly. Correspeniics of The Bee. Map1son, Neb ,January 15.—Mad- fs0n coanty, like all parts of the state, has exporfenced extremely cold weather, and ita severity has been felt the more keenly on account of a scarc- ity of coal for two months. The dgent of the moncpoly coal kings, ot whoze mercy we have been all winter, desls out his precious fuelin as scanty parcels as quartermaster sergeants did provender for cavalry horsea during the war, and with about as much au- thority. Thete is not a pound of coal to be bouight in cur town to-dsy, ex- cept anthracite, How lonz railroad companies will thus monopolize righta that belong to individusls, and make slaves of the people who gavo them their wealth, remaing to be sevn, Tye Bre has struck the ket note of the great political issues of the future, by publishing “Thurbor's Thunderbolt,” aud Judge Black's loyal expcse of the wrongs of heartless corporations on the burdencd masses. The American people are slow to wrath, bat the day of tetribution is nigh, and woe to that cowardly joneualire’ of,_sgeophantis politician ‘who ddres ralve his toics #gainst the freeran who rises to break his chaius. Every merchant, farmer; iechavic and laboring man in the United States, ought to read the arti- es named, study them axd digest their trathe, and then talk and vote for his rights, ond demand of the politician who asks his support, a rigid adherence to his daclaration of righte. The Reagan bill, for the regu‘ation of Inter-state commerce, now pending before congress, dessrves the eapport of the people from Maine to Califor- nia, and the repratentative or senator who votes against it should be spotted by his constitueucy for all time. Tam no prophet, but I will ventore that we a3 a puople, are upon the eve of one of the moat exciting Gampaigns of our history, and one that is fraught with graver consequences than the issue of 1860. The slow, but steady and sure, en- croachment on the birthright of American individual citizons, by the soulless corporation or monied asisto- crat, will ere long meet with » deserv- ed repulee, and that will only be the Paddock SENATE. Special Dispatch to The Boe. Laxcorx, Neb., January 19—10 p. m.—The prevailing opinion_to-night is that the backbone of the Paddock boom is broken. Paddock’s bonst that he would have forty-elght to fifty votes on the first ballot, caused great disappoiotment to h'a followera when they found he fell below forty. Des- perate efforts are being mado to-night to securo additional votos for him on the firat joint ballot to-morrow, but indicationsaro that ho will lose more votes than he can gain. Thurston declared to-night that if Paddock fails on the first ballot to-morrow, his fol- lowers must swing around to Nance. This programme cannot be carried out without serious loss, as many Paddock men will never support Nance, The field still remains unorganized, but confident of final victory when the vote ls pooled.
