Bemis', Rea Esvate Acency, 15th & Douglas St., MAHA, NEB eaders for a week past have been s cretly at work among the busi- ness men of the eastern cities raising money to be used in carrying Indiana at the October election. As a result of their efforts a fund of §950,000 has been raized among the bankers and merchants of this city and Boston d forwarded to the republican man- ers in Indiana to be used in elect. ing Porter and the rest of the republi- can ticket. The work of collecting this money has been conducted with the greatcst caution, and is known to but two or three persons outside of the parties engaged In it. It wes ven in confidence to a prominent nnsylvania politician, and . he acci- dentally betrayed it tos gentleman, who Is equally conspicuous in the po- litical affairs of this city. Rumors of a rupture between Hendricl English, because of the latter's re- fusal to contribute farther money to elect Sanders, has inspired the republi- all that money can do_to help thelr cause.
