THE WATERWORKS. They are Mortgaged to the Farmers’ Loan and Trust Co. for $400,000. The Uity Water Works company of Omaha, Thursday filed ia the office of the county clerk their first mort- gage on the water works now io pro- cess of construction in thescity. The mortgagee s the Farmers’ Losn and Trost compsny of the city of New York, Themortgageis dated August 24, 1880, and provides for the issu- ance of coupon bonds in the sum of $1000 each to the amount of 400,500, all tut $50 000 of which is to be cash- o immediately aud used for the construction of the works, the remainder to be used and apolied ouly for the purpose of enlarging and ex- tending the eame, These bonds bear interest at the rate of 6 per cent, pay- able eemii anaually, on the second days of February and August of each year, and the principsl payable Aug. 20d, 1905. The bonds are, however, redeemable at pleasure after twenty years from date. To secure the pay ment of the interest on these bonds and provide a sinking fund for their redemption, it is agzreed that ell moneys paid by the city for hye ts shall b paid to themert- . Ttis forther provided that ortgagor shall after five years the date of the mortgage pay in a sinking fund for the gradual re emption of the bonds, the sum of $2,000 annually and after ten years the sum of 85,000 annually, to so con tinue until all the Londs ara redeemed.
