Sundey there was s consider- able eensation produced on *‘Hell's half scre” by the deacent of the mar- shsl and severz] police officers on the old ““Gold Dast” ealoon and theater, corer Twelith and Dodge streets. Officers were stationed at every door aad egress was entirely cut off from within, Four women and eight or ten men, with the proprictor, were taken up and lodged in jail. About 10o'clock Judge Hawes keld a briet session of court taking bail from some of the offenders and dealing with every one according to his or her deserts. The news of the Taid spread terrcr among the houses along the street, where a general raid was looked for, which in view of the fact that a new and varied assortment had been laid in for this week, would gave been fnancially a great disaster to the propristors. The storm paseed over lightly, however. POLICE COURT. A Shot at a Bold Glass Cutter The enterprising burglar, whose harvest is expected to be gathered in during the present week, cut the first swath Sunday and thereby earred the gratitude of those who have been predicting a Taid from that class of visitors to the metropolis of the west and the exposition of the garden state of the union. The beldness of the first attempt promises well, andshould it be kept up will rosult in the capture of some of the dangerous gang snd an increase in the number of permanent lodgers at the Hotel Nobes. Sunday was, as every one knows, 3 beautiful moonlight night and not such an one as would ordlnarily be chosen for plundering schemes. About 9 o'clock, however, one or more par- ties entered the saloon of Wm. Grue- nig, corner of Capitel avenue anp Tenth street, and carried off a few dol- lars in loose change left in the drawer. Nothing else was misced. The entrance was made through the cellar from which a trap door opens into thesaloon. This is the third time within the past three months. All benches were filled, and reserved seats were at a premium. A gleam of old- time prosperity seemed to have come to bless the court and fill up the city cofiers. The first offender was William Par- ker, an expressman, who was arrested last night for choking and otherwise abusing his wife.
