Tie Arions have been organized for over two ysars, and as there are several finely cull yated voices among them, weshould not be surprised to see ihem carry off the money. —Dr. Darling, Pennsylvania, long identified with educational interests, will visit Omaha in a few duys for the purpose of giving the student, - accountant, and business men, an opportunity of hearing bis celebrated lectures upon mathematics, where- by they may become quick and ~calculators. He challenges the Lightning Calculator and other prodigies. Further particulars will be;announced hereafter. _The frame building formerly occupied by the Chicago & North- western and Chicago & Rock Tsland ticket offices, on lower Farn- ham street, is being moved by its owaer, Alfred Poland, to Nine- teenth street, he having employed Jobn Semones to do the work. The owner of the ground upo1 which it stood, » obtained 2n Injunction re- cently restraining Mr. Poland from moving it, as there was ground rent due and unpaid. In the evening beginning at half past seven o’clock, dancing on the platform was the attraction. The music by Hoffman’s band was excellent. He w s assessed $8.00 at the Police Court this moraing. —One John Grader was arrested iast evening by policeman Wiliiam Byrne, 8s a suspiciors character. He came here from Lafayette in company with a “pal,” and had a duplicate made of a car-key at a locksmida’s shop. The locksmith gave the icfornation which led to Grader’s arrest. In his possession were found several suspicious tools, such as a saw, file, keys, a danger- ous self-cocking 1evolver, &., all of which went to show that Grader was laying Jow for something. The question was finally put, as to whether the report should be adopted. Te report was adoped. A committee of three on perma- nent organization was appointed, on motion, as follows: Patrick O'Hawes, J. H. Lacey, and Lewis Brown. Some of the Third Ward dele- gation, headed by Henry Gray, left the convention on account of Lee being ruled out. Mr. J. Presson hoped some one would call for reconsideration. Judge Lake thanked the conven- ton for the honor conferced. He favored sending delegates to the State Convention who repre great body of the Republicans of this County, and not any particular clicue. Mr Pat O'Hawes moved (iat the two remainingdelegates of the Third Ward be allowed to cast the en- tire vote of the ward. Caivied al- most unanimously.
