ECHOES FROM. THE LODCE ROOMS ODD FELLOWS. Officers were installed on Thursday evening at the regular meeting of Canton Oneco, No. 3, L O. O. F,, by Past Lieut. Col. John F. Amburn. The officers seated were: Captain, Herbert Willey; lieuten- ant, James H. Smith; ensign, Charles Drescher; clerk, E. F. Kinney; account- ant, James W. Mallett. Nine applications were received and acospted and the candidates will receive the degree work at the first meeting in December. At the grand lodge sedsion . held - in Hartford Oct. 21st an amendment to. the general laws was adopted permifting the admission of women under the same con- ditions as men. Already several of the lodges have taken advantage of this and Lave initiated several women. The honor of being the first woman-to join the order in Connecticut fell to Miss Hera S. Gal- lagher, daughter of the late John Cufrier Gallagher, Who Wwas so prominently con- nected with the order for so many years. Miss Gallagher joined Osceloa lodge of New York city on Monday evening Oct. 25th, only four days after the adoption of the amendment. Since then Osceola lodge has initiated ten women and Farren lodge of Bridgeport has initiated three. P. J. Reilly, the new superintendent of extension, who assumed his duties on Nov. 1st, has been getting acouainted with conditions in the jurisdiction and making plans for a strenuous campaizr as soon as he can get his field force or- ganized.
