HIGGINS Atforney-at-Law Corner Main and Shetucket Streets New York, July 6.—The board of ai- rectors of the National League did not decide today whether John J. Me- Graw, manager of the New York team really said what he was quoted by four membzers of the Baseball Writers’ Association as having said about John K. Tener, president of the leasue, after his fine and suspension for an altercation with Umpire Byron in Cin- cinnati on June 8. A special meeting of the board was held here at the de- mand of the baseball writers, who de- manded an opportunity to establish the authenticity of the interview which McGraw repudiated. After a three bour session adjournment was taken for a week so that additional wit- nesses could be summoned. The haseball writer who obtained the alléged original interview which reflected upon the ability of President Tener of the ational League, testi- fied that he quoted McGraw in sub- stance and later submitted the story to McGraw for his O. K. The New York club manager furth- er stated that he did .not read the manuscript submitted to him later for his approval, but just glanced over u“ and returned it was a geperal remarl } that it was “all right” On cross ex - amination he admitted he never had Brown & Perkins, Hitmeys-ai-law | cuestioned the veracity of the storiss Over Thames Nat.
