What Is Going On Tonight Fea e ailgrieure Moving Pictures at the Au (s Moving Pictures at the Dreed The- Vaudevi! o ne aeille, and Moving Fictures at ANNOUNCEMENTS W. C. T. U. Meeting. Mrs. Bmma_Graves Deitrick, one of ‘he national 'W. C. T. U. lecturers, is 0 be the speaker at a parlor meet- ing, W. C. T. U, to be held in Cen- trai Baptist church parlors on Mon- day at 3 p. m. A social hour at the close. A cordial invitation fs %x- tended to all friends. MOTORCYCLE RACES. Well Known Riders to Appear at the Fairgrounds on Memorial Day. C. V. Pendleton returned last night from e trip through Connecticut and Massachusetts looking up riders for the Motorcycle meet to be held at the Fairgrounds on Deecoration_day. The riders will include Herbert F. Burdick, better known as “Wild Bill,” of Norwich, who is always a big fa- vorite with the local people, and who alwaye manages to hold his end up with the speed boys from other citles. James Palazzo of Bridgeport, who has appeared here for the last three or four vears on his Harley, and always makes a good showing. will again be on hand, and he states that this time he will go home with more than one first prize. “Teddy” Carroll, of Spring- fleld, well known by local motor cv- cle folowers told Mr. Pendleton on Thursday that he would positively come down here and race on Decora- tion day, and that he was 4lso trving to influence Charles Verrill, known throughout the _motorcycle racing world as "Crasy Horse55 Verrfll. Ver- i1l is considersd by far the most dar- ing and spectacular rider that rides a motorcycle on a half mile track. He is at present employfd in the Spring- fleld factory and the Conmnecticut Amusement association will make every effort to have him here as an addea attraction. _Noble R. Stevens of Boston, also well known o motor- cyele followers will also be_on hand with a specially constructed racing machine that he has built himself and which he guarantees as “some speed.” This 18 a freak machine and parts of several makes of motorcycles are used in its construction. He has named it the “M. M. “Red” Potter of Spring- field, who was here on Fourth of July vill also enter for the meet. Two | other riders of national motorclcle fame <lvde and Corbin—are coming to Norwich on Sunday morning to see Mr. Pendleton in regard to getting machines to ride. Gene Walker, who won the machine for racing here last vear, will not be on hand, as he is now located in Georgla. An effort is beinz made to secure “Preddy” Nixon who is now emploved by the Hendee Manufacturing company in ‘Toronto, Canada. Nixon's brother is also anxious to enter here if he can 2 machine. The difficulty encountered this year is not so much to secure riders, as it is ! to secure machines. The leading mo torevcie factories have made an agree- | ment between themselves that in the future they will not enter the racing game and will not furnish racing ma- chines to any riders or agents, neither will they sell racing machines to any riders or agents. For this reason all of the. famous motorcycle racers are “out of jobs,” so to speak, and most of them did not own the machines thev rode in the races, in the past. They are only too glad to pick up a little extra money if they can and many new faces will appear at the meet Dec- oration dav, If machines can be secur- ed for them. Mr. Pendleton has four racing machines of his own. Burdick and Carroll will each have one of them, and the other two will be ziven to riders who the management think will make the best drawing card and the most interest for the spectators. Tubbs' Military band will furnish music. The price of admission will be 35 cents for grown-ups, and 15 cents for children under twelve. Tha meet ie being advertised and the manage- ment expect to have the best exhibl- tion of riding that has ever been put on at the Fairgrounds. ure BREED THEATRE. Admirable Combination of Stars in Vitagraph Production, “Mis Wife's Good Name,” Feature For Monday and Tuesday. No small amount of enthusiasm has been camsed by the combination Vi- tagraph has created in plaving Lucille Tee art and Huntley Gordon op- posite one another in feature pictures. There are, perhaps, no two plaers on the sereen today who play better than do these, who have won their way in- to the hearts of so many motion pic- ture lovers. THis Wife's Good Name. the Blue Ribbon feature which will be seen at the Breed theatre on Mon- day and Tuesday, gives both of these plavers manifold opportunities to dem- onstrate their ability, which they do not fah to use. Thev work together wonderfuily well and one is sure to remark upon the attractive combina-" tion throughout the film. The Breed will also present the Fearst-Pathe Weekly and a very fun- ny_comedy. Today’s bill at the Breed consists of Alice Jovee and Harry Morey in The Courage of Sflance, a five-part Vita- sraph Blue Rfbbon feature, the Pathe Weekly and a screamingly fun- ny Hughle Mack comedsy Song Recital. Hardy Williamson, a tenor _siizer, whose reputation extends throughout England and America. will be heard in this city on May 29th at 8.15, ac- cording to an announcement made by Stillman’s who made the arrangement under which the noted vocaltst will come here. The recital, which will be held in Chamber of Commerce hall, will be of an exclusive nature, admis- on being by card only. Th4 appear- ance of Mr. Willamson promises to be one of the most notable events of the musical season as he is a singer of more than ordinary ability who achieves success wherever he sings. Mr. Williamson possesses that rare- est of all voices—a genuine tenor of golden timbre and extended range. It i= the tpye of voice that stirs enthu- siasm and that often creates a sensa- tion. As an artist, he is remarkably versatile, having sung with equal suc- cess in comcert, opera and ora- torio. Since his arrfval in this coun- trv, his popularity has steadily in- creased and today he Is in high favor from coast to coast. Complimentary cards of admission may be had at Stillman’s, 324 Main street, on Tuedday, before 6 p. m. Mr.' Stillman is opening a musical shop in the Chamber of Commerce building, 324 Main street He has secured the exclusive agency of the New Edison. This shop wiil be op- erated in conjunction with his shop in ‘Westerly where he has the exclusive agency of the New Edison. The West- erly business was established in 1852. ‘We hope that Mr. Stillman will be given a cordial reception by a large attendance at this opening.—See adv. LEGAL NOTICES.
