Kennedy said Tuesday that he would not be a candidate for rep- resentative, though he was nominated for the place at the Killingly demo- cratic caucus. The body of Joseph Bousquet, who died at the police station Thursday afternoon of last week, remains at the undertaking rooms of Louis E. Ken- nedy. All effort to locate relat tives continues. A week from nesxt Saturday night has been set as the date for the an- nual coon hunt in whi¢ch numerous members of the Bohemian club and their friends are accustomed to par- ticipate in. Undergoes Operation. Mrs. Frank S. Kennedy of Dayville was reported Tuesday as resting com- fortably at the Memorial hospital in Worcester, after undergoing, on Mon- day, a serious surgical opefation, OBITUARY. Mrs. Bridget Grimshaw. Mrs. PBridget Grimshaw died Tues- day morning at the home of her son, Michael H. Grimshaw, in Attawaugan, Where she had long been a resident Mrs. Grimshaw leaves two sons, M: chael H., and Willlam, and two daughters, Mrs. James McGuire, Fur- nace street, Danielson, and Mrs. Thomas Govern, Dayville. Chief Mi- chael J. Grimshaw is a grandson of the deceased. Stringing New Cable. Employes of the §. N. E. Telephone company are éngaged in and are rap- idly completing the work of running new cable between Danielson and Day- ville. From the central office to near Decker’s ‘garage, Mechanic street, the cable is a 200-pair composite, from that point to Judd avenue it is 150- pair, from Judd avenue to the mill at Elmville station a 100-pair and goes into Dayville as a_30-pair. The new cable will provide for the care of, new business. REPUBLICAN RALLIES To be Addressed by Senator Brande- gee and Congressman Freeman. Senator Brandegee and Congressman Freeman are to be heard in Killingly on_dates fixed for republican_rallies before the national election Nov. T. The plans of the town committee_call for rallies in Danielson, Dayville, Wil- liamsville and other parts of the town. In addition to speakers of national reputation local speakers and speak- ers from surrounding towns will be heard. The town committee has made provision for the purchase of 300 torches, indicating that some of the 0ld fashioned parades may be looked for before the time of going to the ballot boxes. Popular Company Plays Return En- gagement. At the Orpheum theatre Tuesday svening the Homan Musical Revue company played to good business, as was the case Monday night, when thé show opened here. As was the case last year, this company won immediate favor in’ Danielson. Clara Kigin, the artistic little dancer, is as much a favorite as ever and Eddie Flavelle has proved a very pleasing personality. Berger, with a knife, was sentenced In the superior court in ‘Willimantic, Tuesday, months in Jail, from his wound. _Congregational clergymen from va- rious county towns were at Dayville Tuesday, attending a meeting of the Windham County Association of Con- gregational ministers. Mayor Nominated for Representative The nomination of Mayor J. J. Mc Garry by the democrats as a candidate for representative from Putnam has injected new locgl interest in the state campaign. The action of the democrats in nominasmg only one candidate is viewed by political ob- servers with special interest, and is taken to mean a desire to avoid “cut- ting” on election day. St. Mary's Parish Fair Opens. The annual fair of St. Mary's parish opned Tuesday evening. Preceding the opening of the fair there was a parade in which city officials, member of church societies and others who are connected w the parish partieipat- ed. There was a throng at St. Mary' hall, where the faire is being held, and the first night proved that the an- nual event is going to be a big suc- cess. Mail Unclaimed. Child, Windham. to serve eight Berger is recovering MOTORCYCLE THIEF. Clever New Yorker Gets Machine to Try and Makes Off With It. A clever youpg man, who represent- ed himself as being the agent of a New York firm doing business in sec- ond hand motorcycles wucceeded in getting an opportunity to try a ma- chine owned in this city and rode away with it, finally disposing of it for 32 in the Eastford section. The matter was reported to Chief Joseph A. Ryan of the local police. Witieut success, the allezed New Yorker attempted to get a trial of a motorcycle of a. dealer here who han- dles second-hand machmes. The machine he did get had only a small quantity of gasoline in its tank and this evidently lasted only long enough to run thh motorcycle into the Phoenixville section. THROWN FROM AUTOMOBILE. Edmund Magee and Joseph L. Mc- Ardle Injured While on Way Providence. to While en route from this city to Providence early Tuesday morning, Edmund Magee and Joseph G. Mr- Ardle were thrown from an automo- bile while the machine was being driven along the highway known as the Chepachet route, the accident hap- pening near Harmony, R. I. Upon being taken back to this city Magee was entered as a patient at the Day Kimball hospital. McArdie was taken to t#= Chickering hotel, where he is employed. Landlord James H. Lucey said Tuesday afternoon _that Mr. McArdle was not seriously injur- ed and that he will be able to be about again in a day or two. It is not be- lieve® that Magee is seriously hurt, either, although both men were se- verely bruised and shaken up when they were thrown from the machine, which is said to have skidded. Mr. McArdle was making the trip to Providence that he might catch an early train. Will Attend Board Meeting. Mrs. W. J. Bartlett leaves today for 10.30 in the fifth degree and will be devoted to balloting on candidates and initiating a large class. A chicken dinner is to be served by the ladies of Wolf Den grange. The lecturer’s program, at the af- ternoon session,is to be in the fourth degree, and will include an address on Dairy Problems, by Mr. Stadmeuller. E. E. Smith of the extension service will also make an address. Other members on the lecturer's program will provide much entertainment. It has heretofore been the practice of the housewives to “put up” this winter's supply of catsup. This fall the price was prohibitive. Expects Prize at Springfield. B. C. Bliss, superintendent and but- ter maker at the Jewett City Cream- ery, is at home after a day at the National Dairy Show at Springfield. Mr. Bliss expects some creditable re- turns when the standardization of the local creamery is determined .by the judges. When the many butter exhib- its are brought before the board of | judges, all printed name wrappers are removed from the product. Returning, Mr. Bliss was the guest of his son, Leslie Bliss, of Hartford. Mrs. Bliss remains in Springfield the guest of relatives. Mercury Takes Sudden Drop. A stiff northerly gale blew all the afternoon Tuesday, and the movable things about the streets, leaves and dust in particudar, took a lively whirl. The mercury had dropped 20 degrees at 6 p. m. Twenty-five cars conveying Battery A of the Rhode : Island companies passed through town Monday after- noon on their way to Providencg They were given a clear track over all other trains. Extra freight No. 327, due to arrive in Baltic at 4.33, did not reach town until § o'clock. The delay was caused by the freight remaining on a siding awaiting the arrival of the guardsmen'’s spesial. Robert Walker spent Tuesday with ‘Willlmantic friends. Donkey Tamer Fails. A young man employed in a local mill, stated Monday that he could ride Jennie, a donkey belonging to a Bal- tic man. Quite a number congrezated on High street to watch the king of the saddle as he called himself. He mounted and had gotten his feet firm- Iy placed in the stirrups when Jennie decided to play her part which she did. SHe unceremoniously threw her hind feet skyward and dislodged the young broncho trainer, throwing him a distance of 12 feet over his head. With the exception of a few bruises this young trainer is getting along nicely, but is giving kicking animals a wide berth. Applications To-be-made.
