GALES FERRY Country Club Center of Summer Social Events—Mrs. Walter M. Buckingham Had Charge of Chil- dren’s Entertainment—Cottage at Camp Ground Opened—New Lon- don Pastor at Open Air Service. There were no services in the M. E. church on Sunday last, on account of the illness of the pastor, Rev. James M. Potter. The open air service at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the pine grove, adjolning George W. Frost’s grounds, on the bank of the Thames river, was conducted by Rev. Austin I. Bush of New London who spoke to interested hearers. Rev. Mr. Bush also led the singing, which was harmonious in the open air. Subscription Card Party. The social affairs at the Country Club house are following each other in quick succession, Thursday after- noon, a subscription card party was given from 3 to 6 o'clock at the sum- mer_cottage of Mr. and Mrs. George W.
