With the winning of this:contest by the clase score of 8 to 7. Stonington High ends its baseball season in a blaze of glory, and with-four trophies to the good. Two of the trophies have been won from Westerly, one the three year cup and the other the silver sin- sl game trophy, the latter being won Dbefore the champlonship was decided. By winning the Webster series the lo- cal school carries away two more tro- phies, one a cup put up instead of a pennant, to be given to the cham- pion, and the ther the Wright and Ditson trophy, given to champions in leagues where the W. and D. baseball is used. It would have been a difficult mat- ter to find a crowd more enthusiastic and more noisy than the one which witnessed this game, after the final run was made. Even while the run- ners were going around the bases, the fans were running out on the diamond, waving their hats, and, in fact, any- thing that came in sight. There was a fairly good sized crowd considering that the weather was unfavorable. Mawson, who was on the mound for Stonington, pitched his best game of the season. He allowed only six hits, walked none and made the fine strikeout record of fifteen. He was right in form and deserves great cred- - ters—Interscolastic League Holds Meeting. Pa it for his fine performance. In the seventh inning ‘the visitors hit him for some runs, but the majority of scores. in‘that session were due to the fog, which setled about the field and threatened:to stop the game for a while. It was in this inning that a ball was. hit to-centerfield with men on bases, which ordinarily would have been chit, but Vincent did not even see the sphere until it had slmost reached the middle garden, and as a consequence two runs came in. Bartholomel pitched a good game for the visitors. The score: s H. H.
