Lately Euro- pean governments have made large urchases of chocolate, finding that it the favorite emergency ration on account of its small bulk and the large amount of nutriment it contains. For many years. in this country Wal- ter Baker & Co.'s chocolate has been recognized as an exceedingly valuable wrticle of food; chocolate containifig, as one autharity has stated, "Mure flesh-forming matter than beef. VIS THEATRE Episode Number 14 of The Million Dollar Mystery Today On account of the famous Arthur Chatterdon company playing at this theatre. next week, the management has- announced the 14th episode as a special attraction for today, this will be a pleasant surprise to many who are following this great serial each week. The title of the two reels today is Tracket by the Secret Service, a brief synopsis is given here: Desperate, the Black Hundred determine upon a bold plan to rid the House of Mystery of Jones, Florence, and every one in it, #0 they can carefully hunt every nook and corner for the $1,000,000. Jones discovers one of them hiding counter- feit mor®y in ihe library. Cunningly, the Black Hundred inform the chief of the secret service. Norton cleverly discovers the scheme; he enlists the aid of the secret uervl;tl . The dicta- hone, the police and the ever-resour- gelul Norton bring about flight, pursuit and the thrilling adventure in the den of the counterfeiters. The other photoplays dre all up to the Davis standard and include our Mutual Girl and one_ funny Keystone comedy called Killing Horace. The vau- deville feature ls Mareno, Nevaro and Mareno, a trio of sensational acrobatic ‘wonders who have what has been con- ceded as one of the best acts in vaude- ville the tricks they perform being out of the ordinary and something that keeps everyone up to the greatest pitch of neat refined singing that has been a big hit the past two days, and Joe Pino, the wizard on the accordion, is in a class by himself. Matinee today at 2:30, 5 and 10 cents: evening at 7 and 8:45, 10, 15 and 20 cents. Come early and be sure of a seat. Attractive Opening Bill A Grain of Dust is announced as the opening bill of the Arthur Chatter- don company at the Davis theatre next Monday ' night. A Butterfly on the ‘Wheel will be given Monday after- noon. The night offering is of special significance, however, for many rea- sons. First, it has proven the most successful of all the plays that James K. Hackett has ever used for a starring yehicle, not excepting The Prisoner of Zenda. Secondly, it is considered the very best story of the late David Graham Phillips, even better than Old ‘Wives for New. Another reason that the represenftation most at- tractive is that Miss Bushnell and Mr. Chatterdon are fitted for the leading roles, parts which give them special opportunities in characters that appeal to the audience. The play will be elaborately staged throughout. As most book readers are aware, A Grain of Dust is the life story of a pretty New York stenographer who meets with many surprising adventures while em- ployed by a firm of corporation law- yers. The Girl in the Taxi, with the tango dances of Miss Bushnell and Earl Howell, is attracting special at- tention for Tuesday evening. As the ladies’ tickets for Monday night are going like the proverbial hot cakes, those who would secure these’ bar- gains will do well to order at once. Whiteslde-Strauss Co,/ at the Audi- torium Today To conclude their engagement here today, the popular Whiteside-Strauss company will play The Call of the ‘Wii4, a very pleasing play, at both the matinee and evening performances. The Call of the Wild is exceptionaliy well handled by this clever company 2nd is one of those pieces which is sure to draw big houses in every town. It 15 what is termed a half society drama end is given in four acts, the scene of the first two acts is laid in Omaha and the last two take place in New York city. Todey’s bill is a corker and Promises to be one of the best of the week. The Animated Weekly, a_very funny comedy reel and a two-reel Rex drama will be included in today’s pic- ture program, Next Monday at the Auditorium Owing to the tremendous success of, The Trouble Makers and the Rajah @irls, two musical comedies which rlayed this house last week, the man- azement has secured another show of the musical comedy type for next Mon- day, Tuesday and Wednesday, when Mr. Raymond Teal will present James P. Lee and his Tabloild Musical Com- edy company. This is probably the best tabloid musical comedy company on the road today, and it has been playing to capacity business everywhere and was held over for four weeks straight at the Lowell Opera house, Lowell, Mass, from which place it comes to Norwich. The company consists of 18 Deople, mostly girls, carries 50 complete Chenges of costumes, introduces: the latest sone hits and the newest nov- elty end modern dances by Miss Grace ¥ickie and Mr. Francis Mack. Miss Hickie is the girl who taught New York the latest society craze, The Chores. There will be two shows ally, at 2:30 and 7 p. m., and no extra admission will be charged. Mat- inee 10 cents, and evening 10 and 20 rents The entire show, including four reels of pictures, will run nearly three COLONIAL THEATRE Under Royal Patronage, Two Reels, 121 Francis Bushmann The pownrful Fiseanay company pre- sents todry at the Colonial theatre thd wender-8rama of the vear, Under Roy- Patonags. Featured in_this im- mense production is Francis Bushmann working indoors, whether in office or factory or store, often weakens even a strong constitution as shown in nervous symptoms, languor or repeated colds. SCOTT’S EMULSION is helping thousands every day; its rare oil en- 2 riches the blood and aids the throat and lungs. Itisa strength- sustaining. tonic, free _from alcohol or any 14670 tive offering. The Gambler’s Reforma- tion, is a strong border drama, featur- ing Mona Darkfeather and Art Ortega, genuine Indfans. Hearts of the Forests is the beautiful Edison production, and A Study in Feet is a _comedy played wholly by feet of the Vitagraph favor- ites. “The big dramatic triumph, The ‘Master Mind, with Edmund Ereese, the coming attraction’ for Monda: Don't miss this wonderful study in the occult, POPULAR LECTURES. The enthusiastic_reception of the first of the Slater Hall course of pop- ular lectures by the large and inter- ested audience. forecasts the success of the remaining numbers of the course. Professor William Lyon Phelps of Yale, who was heard with such great pleasure last Monday afternoon, will alse deliver the lecture in Slater Hall, next Monday at 4-p. m. The title of his second lecture is “The Present Conditions and Tendencies of the Dra- ma,” a subject which no one can treat in a manner more entertaining than Prof. Phelps with his remarkable sense of humor and inimitable style. In view of the fact that the theatre is the most popular form of entertain- ment. Professor Phelp’s observations on the drama will be of very general interest. It s certain that he will be extended a most cordial welcome next Monday by his many friends. Tickets may be purchased of George A. Davis, or at Slater Hall before the lecture.
