With the ex ption of a few major leaguers stili wavering practically all the players in the American and National leagues have decided where the coming season will find them. In 3rder to round out therefore, inroads [ commenced. Not only are players now on minor league rosters sought by the Federals, but those who may receive their ten days’ notices of release from major or mynor league clubs will be offered places by the new circuit. Developments today in the Cole case convinced Manager Tinker that the pitcher belongs to the New York Americans and no attempt in court or otherwise will be made to force him to carry out the contract which he made with the local Federal league 1t was found that Cole had prac- accepted terms with the Yan- kees before he signed the contract | with Tinker and the throats of court | action were based on Cole's misun- | derstanding of his position, Rather than take & weak case to court, the Federals will give up Cole, they said. | Manager Tinker declared, however. that the Federal league would fight the Killifer case to the limit and pre- dicted that Killifer would play with his team or not at all. A number of players, Tinker hinted, have not lived up to ‘“gentiemen’s agreements” with the Federal league and will not be favored with offers.
