The bulld- ing will be 102x57 and three stories in height, but. it has not yet been decided of what material it will be construct- ed. When completed the building will be suitable for manufacturing pur- poses. Changing Lovell Building. Carpenters are at work remodeling the store occupied by Hertz Bros. on West Main street. The front of the store has been built out two feet or more and large plate glass windows have replaced the small windows. A partition is being put up dividing the store, one-half to be used by Hertz Bros. and the other half to be rented 2s a clothing store. The cottage will seon be ready for ocupancy. Progress In Spiling. Excellent progress is being made by the Connecticut Engineering company on the work of driving the spiles for the foundation of the new Thayer Dbleck on Franklin Square. Last week the work lagged a little. On Wednes- day about 50 spiles had been driven. They are driven in clusters of a dozen or,more and are cut off twe feet under ground over which a cement cap is laid. The concrete studs are to be constructed on these caps. Frames for the concrdte work for the four story concrete building are now in process of construction. The spiles used are; 25 feet in length. It is expected that the work will go along mere. rapidly after the completion of the foundation piers. The open winter has made it possible to work all through the sea- sen. Changes In Falis Company Houses J. P. pagstow and compeny have about completed the installing of the new toilets in the Falls company's houses. Office at Reliance Mill. At the Reliance Yarn company on the East Side the Fenton-Charnley company began excavating on Tues- | day for an addition 24x16 to be erect- ed on the front end of the east side of the building. The addition is to be of weod and brick and one story in height. The work wiil take about a week. The addition is to be used for an office as heretofore there have been no office work done at the plant, Cottages At the Shore. It will be provided with furnace heat, electric lights and modern Society. The building committee of the East- ern Missionary association of the Swedish Congregational churches have decided W. B. Crabtree of New Britain as architect for an orphanage at Cromwell. The specifications will be prepared immediately and in about three weeks they will be ready to go out to contractors to be figured on. The work of erecting the building will be undertaken as early as possible in sho spring. It will cost about $22- 00. The plans call for the erection of a two and a half story brick building with basement. The architectural style is Gothic. The building will be 98 by 40 feet. It is so designed that the sexes will be segregated. The first floor will be for boys. There will be two large dormitortfes on this floor, each for the accommodation of twenty-six boys. There will alse be rooms for the larger boys so that sixty can be accommodated. Toilet and locker rooms are also provided. The office, a reception room and querters for the matron and master are also specified. There will be a large ve- randa in the rear and a game room is set off. Two wide fireproof stair- ways are designed. The second floor will be taken up with two large dormitories, one to ac- commodate fifteen beds and the other twenty-five. Seperate rooms for older girls and an infant’s room are laid out. Toilet and locker fooms imme- diately adjoin the dormiteries.
