Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Hunt and son Theodore of Providence have been 8] ding a few'days with Mr. Hunt's mother and sister in this place. Caf- frey wife of Inspector Caffrey of Pol- lce” Headquarters this city, narrowly escaped drowning at Oakland Beach yesterday. Mrs. Caffrey went to Oak- yland Beach yesterday with her son and some friends for the day. After lunch they decided to go in bathing, she went out a short distance f; the shore and started to float. Sorfie one on the shore noticed that she seemed to be raising her feet from the water and that her head was apparently beneath the surface. Finally Henry D. Hunt of 58 Dexter street this city, who has a cottage -at the beach de- cided that her actions indicated she was in trouble, and he put out to see what was the matter. As he swam along side of her, he saw thdt she was apparently unconscious, and im- mediately seized her and started for the shore. As soon as he had landed her on the beach other spectators be- gan the work of reviewing her, while some one telephoned for Dr, 8. H. Lone of Apponaug. When the phy- gician arrived he found that the volun- teer workers had succeeded so well in the work of resucitation that Mrs. Caf- frey was out of danger.” Columbia Won Two Games. Two ball games were played by the Columbia team last Saturday after= noon at Lebanon. One with the Goshen nine in which the Columbia team was victorious, score 14 to 6.
