Observed Silver Wedding Aniversary = Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Fields the Center of a Family Gather-‘ ing Saturday Night—Were Married in Wiilimantic, Dec. | 2], 1887, But Have Always Lived in Norwich. The 26th annivemsary of their mar- vii;e vas delightfully observed on Sat- urday eyening by Mr. and Mrs, Joseph J. Fields at their home, No. 58 Broad- ,way, When a number of young women “in wHom they are interested arranged an informal gathering, at which the bride and groom of a quarter of a cen- tury ago were the guests of honor. It was a quiet occasion, confined for the ‘most‘ part' to the immediate families, and the majority of those who were present at the silver anniversary were also at the wedding. Among these were | Charles H, Windmiller of Worcester, | Mass., who 'was the best man, and Mrs. | |1 Laura 'A. Williams, a sigter of Mrs. | T'ields, of this city,who was the brides- | maid. Others from out of town were Mrs, Flelds’ father, Thomas G. Auerlio, and his wife, of Willimantic, and her | sister, Mrs. J. E. Joseph, and herj| daughter, Miss Catherine Joseph, of Stoni An excellent musical programme was provided during the evening by| Swahn's’ srchestra of four pieces, and dainty refreshments were served. One pleasant feature of the evening was the presence of both of Mr. Fields’ parents, ‘Mr, and. Mrs. M. J. Fields of this city, and the interesting fact was noted ‘that sirice their wedding in 1887 there has been ne break in either of the two jmmediate families. On the other| “hand, there have been a goodly num- ber of additions, one of them being their, nephew, Master Raymond Fields, ¢who has the distinction of being the .only hoy in the family. Two cornet ‘solos by Miss Mary Garvey were es- pecially enjoyed. An extensive array of silver was re- celved by Mr. and Mrs. Fields, and one thoughtful giver remembered them with a silver dollar of the mint of 1887 and a silver certificate bearing the year ‘1912. Another gave 3§ silver dimes, Jand china and cut glass were also among the numerous articles. Foy the celebration the rooms had been attractively decorated by Miss Sadie Ida Schulman, a Santa Claus eing teh center figure of the dining e, while Christmas greens, poinset- and bells were used with good ef- ¢t. The four young ladies who serv- | #d were Misses Blizabeth Leahy, Jen- nie Gourley, Elizabeth Hamilton and Clara Isabel Joseph. Following the game-at the Y. M. C. A, the victorious Laurel Hill bagketball team was enter- tained by Mr. Fields,who is their capa- ble coach. r. and Mrs. Fields were married in i church. M Willimantic on Dec, 21, 1887, H. B. Jefferson of St. P 5 Ifields was Luc win Aurelio, the daughter of Charlotte De Silva and Thomas G. Aurelio, and by Rev. on her father's side the family goes| back to Myles Standish, John Alden, Governor Bradford, John Howland and other colonial settlers of New Eng- land. All their married life has heen pass- ed in Norwich. Mr. Fields was a mem- ber of the volunteer fire department of Norwich and served in the Third r ment hospital corps under Major L. | Almy and Major Julian LaPierre. Miss Beatrice Burnham of L.os An- geles, California, a student at Dada Hall school, is spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Waterman R. Burnham.« Mrs. Nelson D, Robinson, Mrs. Wil- liam H. Fitch; Mre. Burrill W. Hyde, Miss Bllen Geer, Mrs. Waterman R. Burnham and Miss Beatrice Burnham attended the forefathers’ day meeting of the May flower club held at the Mohican hotel in New Lopdon en Sat- urday.
