DQLLEST IN FORTNIGHT. | ——pu wrq Cr 9887 7 B, 7 54 '?1’522 :jll' % Yesterday’s Trading Exceedingly Light, | but Money Not Such Strong Factor. | New York, Sept.-13.—The only ap- preciable _difference bctween today’s stock market and the early sessions of | the week lay in the, gredter idleness. Trading in the first’ three hours ran under 100,000 shares, and the totul out- put was the smallest in over u fort-| night. - The money situation was less | obtrusive as a factor; call loans touch- | ing their highest figure at 5 per cent., es against 5 1-5 per cent yesterday and the day before. As a matter of fact, the bulk of foday's loans were made under 5 per .cent. There was dome further calling of loans, however, a re- sult of the week’'s steady cash out- flow, estimated at between $7,000,000 and $9,000,000. There were many rumors of impend- ing gold imports, based largely on pri- vate cables from London and the wprldn‘s of foreign exchange, but so far as ascertainable negotidtions are still in the tentative stage. ! For the greater part of the day the | movement of stocks was in keeping | | with the unusual dullness. In the last| | hour, however, the list moved upward | to a level well above yesterday's final | quotations. Among the few features of | decided strength were Louisville and Nasiiville and Southern Railway pre- ferred. The rise’in the latter stock came shortly before the announcement | that the directors had restored the divi- | dend to the 5 per cent rate, which pre- | vailed for the five vears preceding the | panic of 1907. Other issues that rfls?’ a point or more included Seaboard Air Line, 8t. Louis Southwestern, Consoli- | dated Gas, General Elegtric and some of the tobacco grou.
