Gallaudet, who, aft- er his rémarkable escape from death when his aeroplane crashed to the earth at Mingola, L. 1, just three ‘weeks ago today, is now rapidly con- valescing at Atlantic Highlands, N. J.,, Denison GaNaudet .of this city on Tuesday night announced that anéther aeroplane is to be built by them and that work will be started .on it this morning at the plant of the Gallaudet Engineering company at Thamesville. They hope to have it completeq in three months’ time. His “brother, he said, was progressing so nicely that he is expected to be able to return to Norwich next week. For their new machine the Gallaudet brothers will return to the hydro- aeroplane model, which they formerly built and tried out on the Thames riv- er, but {ncorporated in their latest cre- ation will be a number of features which will make it different from oth- er aeroplanes of the type now in use. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kretzer have returned to Mystic from a visit to friends in Norwich. and will furnish the motive power for the hydro-aeroplane, . When Edson F. Gallaudet, racing along at a speed of 115 to 120 miles an hour, hurtled to the ground from a height of 160 feet, hig" brother, con- veyed to the spot in an automobile, was the first to reach him. The avi- ator, still retaining consciousness, spoke to his brother, who thumped the injureq man and found that by some marvelous chance there has been no serious injury. The most Berious re- sult was a rather deep and painful cut on one leg, while there was a =calp wound, but not a single bone ‘in his body was broken by the long tumble in the wild machine. i Picking him up from the mud with which he was bespattered, they hur- ried him to the Mineola hospital, where he stayed just a week. Since then Mr. Gallaudet has been recuper- ating at Atlantie Highlands and he is now able to walk a short distance on crutches and the wound on his leg is healing nicely.
