During the evening several tables of whist were played; the first prize was won by Miss Quintard, the consolation was taken by Mrs. Frank Stanton. Re- freshments were served. Mrs. J. O. Barrows and Miss Free- man left Wednesday for their new home in Norwich Town. The fishing smack, Etta and Lena, brought in eight barrels of flounders Wednesday -and Capt. A business meeting of the teachers of the town of Stonington was held Tuesday afternoon at the borough schoolhouse, and matters of interest were discussed. W. H. Perry, super- intendent of the schools, gave an in- teresting talk. Travel Club Plans. Tuesday a meeting of the committee of the Travel club was held at the library and the winter work planned. Charles Mosher, while fishing down the beach this week, hauled up a large old fashioned anchor, probably of of to English make, which weighed about 300 pounds. Several feet of chain came with it. It nearly ruined two Jarge nets. It is thought that it came from an English brig_which was lost near where this was found more than 25_years ago. William R.
