Olmstead Re- turns from Vacation—Other Matters. | rj The Baptist library committee held its most interesting meeting Saturday evening with the chairman, Mrs. Charles Q. Eldredge, at Riverview. /After the business ion, Judge Wil- lis B. Heaton of Troy, N. Y. a guest at Riverview, gave a talk on llbraries imparting much information of value and offering a variety of heipful sug- gestions that will greatly assist-the commlttea in improving the condlitons of the library that they represent. Judge Hes,ton resides at Hoosick Falls, N. Y., and js president of the board of trustees of the Hoosick Falls free library. He presented a pleasing little sketch of the founding and con- ducting_of the library in his home town. The committee was so delight- fully entertained that the members will be anxious to listen to another address by the judge. Variety Supper. The ladies’ aid soclety of the Bap- tist church gave a variety supper on ‘Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 o'clock in the parlors of the church. The at- tendance was good. The proceeds will be used to meet a coal bill. Personal Notes. Mr. and Mrs, John L. William Curry and Thomas Walk- ingshaw went to Exeter pond Satur- day night, fishing. Both men were walking across the dam to where the rowboat was anchored, and in cross- ing Walkingshaw missed his footing, and fell backward twenty-five feet to the stones below. He was badly bruis- ed and cut and his knee was badly in- jured. He was taken to his home in Goshen society and a doctor called. The Bigelow baseball team visited Scotland last Saturday to play that town's team a real ball game. They met the home team there, all smiles with the anticipation of an easy vic- tory, but they (the home team) wore something besides the smile that won't come off when Bigelow carried off the game by the score of 14 to 1. Alberta is to be their future home. s EASTFORD Death of M. F. Latham, One of Town's Prominent C ns—Various Notes. The death of M. F. Lafham, aged 66, on Tuesday, September 7, was a shock to the community. He was around in town doing business on Friday, the 3d. On Satyrday he was taken unconscious and hever rallied. He had represented the town in the legislature, had served a term as sen- ator and was a delegate to the con- jtutional convention. He held the office of selectman for more than 20 vears. He was a member of the school board and had many im- rtant offices in the grange. He F;vu his wife and two sons, and a brother James of Providence. The funeral was held at his residence on Friday at 2 p. m. Personal Rev. H. H. Convi and daughter, Sybil, are at Clark's Corners for a time.
