It has been alert to get at the truth and to print it without bias. the enemies of the farmers’ cause gan not understand. This is a policy that news always colored by politieal prejudices. It costs money, often, to get-at the truth.. The Courier- News believes the people of North Dakota and neighbor- ing states appreciate that service when it is performed for them. A ring of enemies has continually surrounded the farmers and the farmers’ cause in North Dakota. The main in- strument of that unscrupulous political ring is a syndicate of daily newspapers serving selfish interests outside of North Dakota, interests which have fattened themselves by exploitation of the state and its people. .- ‘The Courier-News stands by itself. ‘When the farmers’ legislature opened its sessions in Bismarck last winter the enemies’ representatives were there in force prepared to poison the news that went out to the state and the nation. They have been busy at it ever since. The Courier-News at once sent its own representative to the state capitol, choosing a capable newspaper man who had never been identified with the farmers’ movement, but: was known only as a careful reporter. His only instruections were to send fair and truthful reports. The Courier-News has maintained its own correspondent continuously in the capital, because in no other way could it get unbiased news. It maintains its speeial corre- spondents at many other points for the same reason. The Courier-News has been continuously on the job to defend the state of North Dakota and its people ‘from continual attacks directed at the farmers’ movement. The enemies of the people of North Dakota are alert and active. Their policy is ‘‘rule or ruin.”’ Seeing the control slipping out of their hands they are now bent on doing injury no matter whom they harm. The efforts of The Courler-News all along have been con- struetive. It has stood for every good project. It seeks to promote the development of its territory, not by ex- ploitation and robbery of the producers, but by enlarging the opportunities of all. It is the one newspaper which represents the people in North Dakota and not the in- «terests that prey. The Couner-News is interested in promoting co- operatxon for the interests of the many, not conspiracy for the bene- fit of the few. It is inicrested in promoting honest e!fort for the good of the community, the state and the nation. The Courier-News stands for democracy. It is the foe of autocracy and special pr ivilege everywhere. The Courier-Néws Is a Better No other newspaper in the field of The Courier-News approaches it in value ss a newspaper.
