ADVERTISEMENTS City Physicians Explain Why _ They Prescribe Nuxated Iron To Make Beautiful, Healthy Women and Strong Vigorous Men NOW BEING USED BY OVER THREE MILLION PEOPLE ANNUALLY Quickly Transforms the. flabby flesh, toneless tissues, and pallid cheeks of weak, anaemic men and women into a perfect glow of health and beauty—often increases the strength of delicate, New York, N. Y.—It is conservatively | estimated that over three million people annually in this country alone are taking Nuxated Iron. Such astonishing results have been reported from its use both by doctors and laymen, that a number of physicians in various parts of the country have been asked to explain why they prescribe it so extensively, and why it apparently produces so much better re- sults than were obtained from the old forms of inorganic iron. - Extracts from some of the letters re- ceived are given below: 5 Dr. Ferdinand King, a New York Physician and Medical Author, says: ‘“There can be no sturdy iron men without iron. Pallor means anaemia. Anaemia means iron deficiency. The skin of anaemic men and women is pale. The flesh flabby. The muscles lack tone, the brain fags and the memory fails and they often become weak, nervous, irrit- able, despondent and melancholy. When the iron goes from the blood of women, the roses go from their cheeks. In the most common foods of America, the starches, sugars, table syrups, can- dies, polished rice, white bread, soda crackers, biscuits, macaroni, spaghetti, tapioca, sago, farina, degerminated corn- meal, no longer is iron to be found. Re- fining processes have removed the iron of Mother Earth from these impoverished foods, and silly methods of home cookery, by throwing dewn the waste-pipe the water in which cur vegetables are cooked is responsible for another grave iron loss. Therefore, if you wish to get the most out of what you eat, you must supply the iron deficiency in your food by using some form of organic iron, just as you would us;at salt when your food.-has not enough salt. Dr. James Louis Beyea, for 15 years Adjunct Professor in the- New York Homeopathic Medical College, says: ‘‘As a physician -I have always been opposed to prescribing advertised remedies, and for fifteen years, while Adjunct Profes- sor in the New York Homeopathic Med- ical College, I taught my medical stud- ents that such remedies ‘were generally valueless, but in the case of Nuxated Iron severe tests made on myself and numer- ous patients, have absolutely convince_d me that it is a remedy of most extraordi- nary merit and one which should be generally prescribed by all physicians. Notwithstanding the fact that I am nearing my 80th birthday, a short course of Nuxated Iron has made me feel like a new man. Friends say, ‘What have you been doing to yourself, you look so we}l and full of life?” In my opinion there is nothing like organic iron—Nuxated Iron. But beware of the old forms of metallwe iron which often do more harm than good. To be absolutely sure that my patients get real organic iron and not some form of metallic variety, I always prescribe Nuxated Iron in the original packages.” Dr. E. Sauer, a Boston physician who has studied widely in both this country and in great European Medical Insti- tutions says: ‘‘As I have said a hundred times over, organic iron is the greatest of all strength builders. If people would only take Nuxated Iron when they feel weak or run down instead of dosing themselves with habit-forming drugs, stimulants and alcoholic beverages I am convinced that in this way they could ward off disease, preventing it becoming organic in thousands of cases and thereby the lives of thousands of persons might be NEVER- ROT Concrete Fence Posts will save your time, worry, and - money, because they are the best. The real and true cause-which started their diseases was nothing more nor less than a weakened condition brought on by lack .of iron .in the blood."” £ Iron is absolutely necessary to enable your blood to change food into living tissue. Without it, no matter how much or what you eat, your food merely passes through you without doing you any good, and ‘as.a.consequence you become weak, pale and sickly-looking, just like a plant trying to grow in a soil deficient in iron. If you are -not-:streng. or well you. owe it to yourselfito-make-the following test: see how long you can work or how far you can .walk: without becoming tired. Next take two five-grain tablets of or- dinary nuxated iron three times per day after meals for.two ieeks. Then test your strength again and see how much you have gained. I have seen dozens ot nervous, run-down people who were ail- ing all the.while ‘double their strength and endurance and entirely rid them- selves of all symptoms of dyspepsia, liver and other troubles-in from-ten to four- teen days' time- simply-by taking iron in the proper form. And this after they had in some cases been doctoring for months without obtaining any benefit. But don’t take the old- forms of reduced iron, iron acetate or tincture of iron simply to save a few cents. The iron de- manded by Mother Nature for the red coloring matter in the blood of her chil- dren is, alas! not that kind of iron. You must take iron in a form that can be easily absorbed and assimilated to do you any good, otherwise it may prove worse than useless. Many an athlete and prize-fighter has won_ the day simply because he knew the secret of great strength and endurance: and -filled his blood with iron before he went into the affray; while many another has gone down in inglorious defeat simply for the lack of iron.” 3 Dr. T. Alphonsus Wallace, a physician of many years ‘experience in this country and who has been given many honorary titles in England, says: ‘I do not make a practice of recommendnig advertised medicinal products, but I have found Nuxated Iron so potent-in nervous, run- FOR |_|‘V>E AND Pouitry, Essgs & We are cash buyers. The men and women . of today need more iron in their blood than was the case twenty or thirty years ago. This because of the de-mineralized diet which now is served daily in thous- ands of homes and also be- cause of the demand for great- er resistance necessary to off- set the greater number of health hazards to be met at every turn.” Dr. N. H. H o r n stine, for ten years in the De- partment of P ublic Health and Charities of P hila delphia, 3 said: ~ ‘“After carefully examining the formula of Nuxated Iron I realized that here at last was or- : 3 #anic jron—the only kind I could consci- entiously recommend, prepared -in such a way with other ingredients as to be easily assimilated and calculated to act as a quick revitalizer of the blood and a true strength builder. Its administration in a number of stubborn cases where other tonics had utterly failed only served to convince me absolutely of the remarkable and unusual power of Nuxated Iron. When | personally took it | found the rapidity with which my energy and-endurance in- creased most surprising. In my opinion the widespread use of Nuxated Iron is bound to make a nation of stronger men, lovelier women and healthier children.” NOTE—Nuxated Iron, which is pre- scribed and recommended above by physi- cians in such a great variety of cases, is not a patent medicine nor secret remedy, but one which is well known to druggists and whose iron constituents are widely prescribed by eminent physicians both in Europe and America. Unlike the older in- organic _iron products it is easily assimi- lated, does not injure the teeth, make them black, nor upset the stomach; on the contrary, it is a most potent remedy in nearly all forms of indigestion as well as for nervous, run-down conditions. The manufacturers have such great confidence. in nuxated iron, that they offer to forfeit $100.00 to any charitable institution if they cannot take any man or woman under 60 who lacks iron, and increase their strength 100 per cent or over in four weeks' time, provided they have no serious organic trouble. They also offer to refund your money if it does not at least double your strength and endurance in ten days’ time: It is dispensed in this city by all good druggists. WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN THE UNITED STATES The state of Louisiana has an enorm- ous publicly owned cotton warehouse, the.largest.institution of its kind in the world. The warehouse handles cotton at $1.00 less per bale than the charges. hitherto exacted by -privately owned warehouses. The state of" Louisiana also owns and operates an enormous grain elevator costing $1,250,000 equip- * ped so that it can load 100,000 bushels of grain per hour. There are 192 pub- licly owned elevators in Canada oper- ated by co-operative associations of farmers with the help and support of the government. = Under public ownership in Milwau- kee, water costs on an averagé 25 cents per family per month. That' is just one-fifth what it costs under private ownership in several Wisconsin cities under similar conditions. The city of Omaha, Nebraska, took over its water $21:88" a "year now- costs '$15.26." There are over 3,000 cities in the TUnited States that own their water plants and most of them are making good records. So too with gas. Duluth used to pay $1.80 per thousand feet for gas. The municipal plant has reduced the cost to 75 cents. The city of. Kalamazoo, Michigan, manages to get coal to its people through a municipal fuel yvard at a reduction of from $1.75 to $4.00 a . ton; and those who were compelled to buy in small quantities were saved at the rate of from $12.00 to $14.00 a ton. Many other cities are making equally good records. ) In England the municipal ownership of street car lines has reduced the cost of street car service to a little less than two cents a ride on the average. San Francisco has made a good beginning and five other American cities are fol- lowing suit, In Zurich, Switzerland, the municipal dwellings built upon land owned by the city have reduced the rents just about one-third. Many other cities in France, Germany and even in Scuth America have done as well. Thus wherever the principle of public owner- ship is applied and brought under pro- per control and direction, it has been made to reduce the cost of living. A POLITICIAN'S PAPER P Brewster, Kans. Editor Nonpartisan Leader: - We people here in Sherman county, Kansas, have been reading lately about the Nonpartisan league and it looks good to us and finding the inclosed article in the Mail and Breeze I am sending it to the Leader. We would like to see it answered in the Leader. I get the Leader every week and find that most everyone likes the idea of a square deal for all as represented by the Leader. “Conscript the dollars as well as the men” suits evary one but big money interests. - CLIFFORD MILLER. The Mail and Breeze, referred to, is the property of Governor Capper of Kansas, who is now using his publica- tions in an attempt to slander a farm- ers’ movement that has gained enough strength in North Dakota to put real farmers, not newspaper editors and hack politicians, into office. THE EDITOR. OLD LIE IS NAILED President Townley of the National Nonpartisan league, in an address at St. Paul Tuesday, put at rest the charges of big business that the League was pro-German by saying: “The farmers and wage earners are willing and ready to support any law that makes for the success of this war for liberty and democracy.” President Townley further said: “The farmer’s patriotism is big enough and broad enough to make up for the war prof- iteer’s lack of patriotism and manhood, and, if necessary, the farmer will go on producing food for less than cost. Even with profit vultures clutching at his throat, he will feed the world and its armies of freedom to make the world safe for democracy.”—THE PUBLIC FORUM, Denver, Colo,
