Randall delivered an ad- dress on the question of the necessity of farmers organizing politically in or- der to secure their economic demands at the Melrose (Minn.) opera house. About 80 farmers attended and this is cansidered a very large attendance for this town. Mr. Randall certainly knows his sub- Ject and no better’lecture has ever been delivered in this town. TUntil we can secure political liberty, we will never know economic liberty, and yocu ecan not preach too much of the gospel of organization. J. W. BAYLES. MEETING AT IPSWICH " (From Ipswich (S. D.) Tribune) The Columbian Theatre was fairly well filled last Saturday, when Wm. H Talmadge of Flandrew, and Chris Flegal, of Kulm, N. D., made ad- dresses in the interest of the Non- partisan -League. Both gentlemen are logical talkers and held the close at-' WO tention of the audience while they pointed out the purposes of the ‘League. State ownership of elevators, packing plants, etc.,, is demanded and the Tribune can ‘see no plausible reason why the demand is unjust One thing is certain: The large ma- jority in the state of North Dakota believe in it, as was witnessed by the enormous results secured at the late election. MEETING AT HUFFTON Editor Nonpartisan Leader: S - Huffton, S. D., Jan. 25, 1917. William H. Talmage of Flandreau, S. D., representing the Nonpartisan League, gave an able address to a fair sized audience of farmers at Huffton, S. D, on January 23. His addréss was plain and pointed and his hits were all base hits and liners which struck the. bulls eye and revealed all features of the I.eague program. WILLIAM WORTHY. MEETING AT LOYALTON Loyalton, S. D. g Editor I:Xonpa.r'dsa.n Leader: We had a very fine meeting here this afternoon, there being 68 farmers and business men in attendance. Mr. W. H. Talmadge of Flandreau, 8.-D., and Mr. Christ Flegel of Kuhn, "N. D., were the speakers. Both gave heart to heart talks that could not help but be appreciated. I am certain that this meeting did a lot to further the cause in this part of Edmunds county. The facts you published in your valuable paper re- - garding the St. Paul stock yards and the milling of chicken feed wheat, I am certain has done more to make the farmers see the light than any other ~argument you could advance. Yours for the “F1l Stick” to the N. P. League: MEETING AT AUDUBON . Audubon, Minn, Editor Nonpartisan Leader: A most enthusiastic meeting of fhe League was held at Audubon on Satur- -day, January 20, ; A large number of members of the League and others gathered at Gotten- borg’s hall to hear Mr. Joseph Gilbert gpeak, and judging by the applause by which his remarks were greeted, his speech was well received.
