Must stop reading my issue of Apnl 6 long enough to tell you it is great—the best of all excellent numbers. Unable to attend the mass meetings myself, I certainly enjoy the reports of those who were there. Between 35 and 40 went to Bismarck from Driscoll on April 11. - We farmers have got Big Biz and the politicians going. Let’s keep them rolling faster and faster until the November elections. They vévgxlx\’rt come back!—ALLEN R. JOHN- TALK RINGS TRUE ; Frazrer Should Get Support of Every Citizen Edltor Nonpartisan Leader: I am one of the six dollar’ suckers, also have one son and son-in-law in the League. Will have another son 21 in June and" then he will join too. I take six other papers but when the Leader comes I drop all others and take that. I think it is the greatest paper in the state. . After reading Mr. L. J. Frazier's speech in the Leader I think he ought to get support from every citizen in North Dakota that wants to help the state, whether he is a farmer or a business man. I see by the Leader that the dele- ates indorsed Mr. Thomas Pendray %or senator. As he is my nearest neighbor and is well liked and has made & splendid success in farming. I think he will carry his district ten to one—GRANT RICHARDS. IS THIS “FREE LOVE”? Matt Johnson ~and Jerry Bacon in Same Political Bunk Editor Nonpartisan Leader: Some of the papers of the county are vio- lent over the Nonpartisan League and denounce its leaders as czars, bosses and dictators. Our local paper here is fair to both sides but the Omemee Herald gives a page and a half to the League. It pubhshes two letters from Leaguers demanding proofs of al- leged czarism or bossism or dictation but the Herald’s only proof is to shout - that the writers were Socialists. It talks about Socialism and free love and . charges that the Leaguers are trying to steal the Republican party. But you note that there’s no more “Progressives” or “Stalwarts.” The bull moose and the elephant have lain down together. Matt Johnson and Jerry Bacon are snoring sweetly the same bunk. Yet Matt is shoutmg free love at other people—EDWARD ERTMAN. - political 1S HE DISAPPOINTED? Does it Take a Banker to Make Laws for Farmers Editor Nonpartxsan Leader: I have seen quoted in the Grand Forks Her- ald and other papers, copy of a letter published in the Omemee paper, by Mr. Harty. Who is Mr. Harty? A banker of Omemee and a member of the last legislature. Is he disappointed be- cause he did not get the indorsement of the-League? The Omemee editor brags a great deal about how Mr. Harty stood by the farmers at the last session of the legislature, and up- on -that score condemns the ‘League that it did not mdorse him. for the legislature. 1 wonder if the editor of the Omemee paper. thinks that a banker can represent a farming population better than a farmer can. This editor takes the same stand in reference to Mr. Burdick. I wonder if Matt thinks that an attorney and banker can rep< resent the farmers as governor better than a farmer. The Bottineau National bank also is taking a great deal of interest in this community. One of the officials, a Mr. Viken, asserts that he has the situation of the mountains under his thumb. Maybe ‘he has but we’ll see.
