ALBA it odrpONEMuNT OF THE OONVENTION BILL " BILLS REPORTED—GLIDLEY'S MARKET BRI s " ALBART, Vov. v The debate in the Assembly yestorday Mo ..., - evening, and in the Senate this morning, makes it almost cortain that the proposition of Mr. Littlejohn, tha§ there should be 32 delegates, representing the two palitical parties, in addition to the 128 provided for in the orginal Dill, will be successful. The opponents in the Asseiwbly, ot the Governor's suggestion, saw that they would be Deaton, and they accordingly filibustered enough last eveniug to carry their point. The friends of Mr. Littlc- John's proposition were in a decided majority, and it they had properly held out they could have carried their point, and the bill would have been ordered to a third reading before 12 0'clock. But their leader listened to the wiles of the .other side which was enginecred by D. P. Wood, Parker, and H. 8mith, and agreed that a commttee should report progress. As soou as the Committee rose and reportod to the House, these same leaders of the oppositiou did their Deat to thwart any motion which would not make the bill aspecial order for Monday evening, the 26th. Littlejohn then made a motion to go agam into tho Committee of the Whole, but withdrew it, because eome of his weak-kneed brethern thought they could not introduce their printed bills this morn- ing, it this bill materially effecting the in- terests of the whole State, should Dbe taken up at that time, and they thercfore hopoed to make the bill a .apecal order for Tuesday the 26th. It was evident yester- day afteruoon that the oppnents of the bill wanted it postponed until they had time to hold a Republican cau- cus and make the original bill a party question. Some of the most sensible and independent of the Republicans ‘would not agrce to this, and aunounced privately that they would not be bound by any such cancus. The etrongest argument used against the Littlefohn propo- sition, was tiat as the Republican party would be saddled with fhie respousibility of the Couvention, they should as to g0 In it.
