4 THE CATHEDRAL FAIR. Great Success of aGreat Undertaking— | Additional Noveities. DONATIONS POURING IN. The McCloskey Autograph Album and What It Contains. the second week of the great tair in tho cathedral en Fifth avenue closed late last night, Numerous as the atterdsnco was the first week, and greatly in- creased as it bas been all jast week, the rask yoster- day and last night was vastly greater, Saturday is emphatically children’s day. The avenue and the eral streets 1a the vicinity of the admirable strac- ture for whose beneilt the fair is held were lined with little ones of various growths and ages. School chil- @ren in groups, clad in their best attire, made the bighways merry with their laughter, Nur: with smaller children slowly moved along the crowded thoroughtares, The ticket sellers were embarrassed by the constant call for the coveted pasteboard and the saleswomen opencad wide their eyes when the army of little ones flocked about the tables and gaped 4m wonder and delight at the pretty things on view, In the evening the great white pillars wore their Blittering crowns and sparkied in the iight A thousand fantastic pictures blazed from tbe illumi- nated glass, and the continuous bum of a myriad voices sounded like the boom of waves upom tbe shore, Many more were made in the secood Week. At first ine crowd went there to soe; now they goto buy. There are bundreds of costiy arti- cles ou the tables whieh no individual purebaser would care to take, but the ladies fod no difficulty im disposing of chances in raffles for them, They nave acopted a general rule vf soiling all the chances they can, not that the articles are worth the amount tous obtained, but be- cause any one who buys a sbare ia supposed to do so tor love of the cause. Among the new donations to the fair is a beautiful India shawl, presented to Mrs, E. C. Donnelly by Mrs. Ford; $100 in gold, artistically arranged on a silk background and mounted ina frame; a “lovely iamp,” accompanying an Eoglish tea table, and an admirable portrait of the Cardinal. Not tar from this table, im @ neat enclosore, Bands a jolly little cream colored Cuban pony, @ith well shaped head, bright, mischievous eyes and 8 flowing mane, It is in the custody of a pretty young girl, Miss Mary Maguire, and the table of St, Agnes isto ve bevefited by its raffling to the extent »t $200. One of the best and most profitable tea- tures has the merit of novelty and uselulne: itis artistic table and pavilion, made and presented to hire, A. H. Lazar and daughter, on which are ranged she best graces of cigars and cigarettes. These are sold wholesale or retail by a bevy of vivacious young ladies, chaperoned by Mrs, Lazar, and so great is the Semana that the stock bas to be replenished daily. SOME OV THE ATTRACTIONS.
