CRAZY HORSE'S SURRENDER, The Hostile Chief and Band at Fort Robinson. SMOKING THE PIPE OF FEACE. Twelve Hundred Indians and Twenty-Five Hundred Horses. $Y TELEGRAPH TO THE HEBALD.] amr Konixsox, Neb, May 6, 1977. ‘The long expected surrender of Crazy Horse’s baud took place this afternoon at two o’clock. Lieutenant Clark, of General Crook's staff, met the party about seven miles north of the agency aud was presented to Crazy -Horse by Red Cloud, Alter smoking a peace pipe, Crazy Horse seated himself on the ground and raid “1 want to shake hands while seated, because that means our peace shall last.”’ CURIOUS PRESENTS He then prorented Lieutenant Clark to the principal chieis and head men who came up to sbako hands, A war bonnet, scalp, shirt, pony and buffalo robo were then given Lioutonant Clark as an earnest of good will, and tho villago resumed its march Jor the agency, arriving at the hour above mentioned. ORDERED INTO CAMP, General Mackenzio ordered the surrendered Indians to go into camp op a little space below the agency buildings, First came Red Cloud and the company of Indian soldiora in government service, next Crazy Horse aod bis warriors and finally the herds and pack animals, The lodges were soon put up, and the work of counting the Indians and taking away their guns commenced. THE NUMBER OF INDIANS, 1t is now dusk, and the work is not yet finished, but enough is known to give close figures. There aro moro than twelve hundred Indians under six chie{s— aamely Crazy Horse, Little Hawk, Little Big Man, Bull Hawk and Bad Road, ANIMALS AND LODGES. The animals surrendered number botween 2,300 and 2,500 and are all in very good order. Among them are &@ considerable percentage of American borses and mules, The lodges are not in good condition; many are badly worn and some quite useless, SKKTCH OF THY CHIKVA Crazy Horse is very tacituru, and has the reputation of never saying anything. His face is vory dogged and resolute, bearing out the impression that he is a stranger to toar. Little Hawk, the second in command, is a handsome thief, His father received trom President Monroo in 1817 a silver medal which the son yet wears. Little Big Man, tho third cbiet, is the same who threatened the lives of tho Black Hills Commissioners at this place in 1875. Many of Crazy Horse’s band have never been on an agency until the present movement, TUE WKAPONE, The guns turned in include the latest patterns of breoch-loading arms of precision, but the Winches- ter waa apparently the favorite, Of these Crazy Horse himself turned in throe and Little Hawk two. THE EXTRA SESSION AND THE FOREIGN MIS SIONS, A persistent effort is still being made by various persons to induce the Prosident to change the time for the meeting of Congress to the earlier date first cou- templated, The postponement of the extra sessioa of Congress until October is regarded as also deforrring Prosiden- tial action in the matter of the several foreign missions and other leading Executive appointments which bad been under discussion up to last Friday. THE TURKISH MISSION. ‘The Cincinnati Despatch, reporting the tender of tho Turkish mission to Murat Halstead, 1 evidently mis- taken, as the President would bardly appoint two men—namely, Messrs, Noyes and Halstead—from the one city of Cincinnati to two such important places as the French and Turkish missions, PROMINENT LIBERALS IN WASHINGTON. ‘The presence of the three eminent members of the Mberal party, Messrs, Bowles, White and McClure, gave rise to considerable speculation as to the purpose ef their visit to Washington. Wasninatox, May 6, 1877. ‘The following is the protoeo! of the conference and the declarations by the United States Miniater to Spain and the Spanish Minister of Stats concerning jadicial procedure, namely:— ‘The protocol of a conference held at Madrid on tho 12tb of Junuary, 1877, between the Hon.
