POLO IN DOORS, THE GAMES AT GILMORK’S GARDEN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND LAST EVENING—TROTTING EVENTS OF INTEREST. ‘Though the attendance was limited the programme at Gilmore’s Garden yesterday afternvon proved very attracti The Military Band did much to make the occasion successtul, wh ile the practice game of polo and the trotting under saddle were particularly interesting. John Murphy tossed the ball to the middie of the course at 2h. 24m., and from that timo to the end of the twelfih goal, when the players retired, there were many brilliant fights, Both teams were 1» good form, and the Bostonians, thanks to the example shown them by the Californians, acquitted themselves quite croditably, That magnificent horseman und expert handler of the polo stick, Carillo, played without error and in the several meé/ées seemed a host. Morgan, of the blues, also did well, and inthe midst of tho reds was blis-fally obvious of everything clse but the d sire to score, and score he did frequently. Nine goals won by the Caliiornians to three by their oppo- nents It stood six to two in favor of the blues at the end of the eighth inning, Carillo in the latter sending the ball booming between the posts by well Judged tong hit, The ninth yoal was also ob- tained by the same player in 2m. 10s ; the tenth, by the Bortons in 2m. 308., Ryan doing the work with a Tush across the enciosure. The eleventh was taken by Morgan in 2m, 158. and the twelfth by Carillo im just 1m. 458., when time was called. ROTTING. The trotting event was mile heats, three in five, inder saddle, It was won easily by Joon Murphy's bay jelding Frank, right off tho reel.
