Coroner Eliinger yesterday began an inquest 1m the case of Jules Blanc and his son Emil, who were killed 10 tho torrible tragedy at No. 201 West Thirty-third street on Sunday night, the former by his own hands and the latter by tho bands 0: his futher, The jury was empannelled and viewed the two bodies. Dr, Goldschmidt then made an autopsy in cach case. The brains of both the man and the child were found to have been penetrated by builets, so that their death must have been almost instantaneous. The two bal- lots were extracted and found to be similiar to those used im the pistol jound in ibe hands of the murderer, Mme. Blanc is still lying unconscious in ward 12 at Bellevue Hospital » Sbe 1s not expected to recover, Her condition is so preedrious that the surgeous are afraid to prove for the bullet with which sho was shot, It was boped that the woman would yesterday have deen able to say something in regard to the causes leading to the tragedy, and dispel the mystery that now surrounds 1, in the minds of some, who are weil informed in regard to the circumstances of the adair, it is thought that Mrs. Blane acquiesced in the deed.’ Captain Washburn, of ihe Twenticth precinct police, who entered the house soon after the murder and saicide, is one who inclines to tbis belief. He says that the woman was conscious for some time after he went there, and that she particularly requested the ‘aitenuance of a priest, When the latter arrived tho room was lett to them, and a conversation followed, in which the woman took part. This circumstance, 'to- gether with the fact that she made no effort nor showed no desire to leave the side of her husband, is strongly indieativ that she had expected the crime and had submitted wih- out resistance. The letter written by Blanc is also in support of this theory beeause of the use of the pronoun “we,” in piace of the singular, which occurs 1m some of the sentences. It ia supposed that Blane did not prosper weil in his endeavors to support bis family by teacning and that the helplessness of the unfortunate blind man weighed heavily upon both bis own mind and that of his wife, The latter was compelled to accept engagements in opera, which she knew to be distasteiul to bim, and, “to conclude the matter, in mutual despondency they ‘supposed to have agreed upon the course pursued. ‘This theory seems plausible, but subsequent develop- ments may throw more light upon the subject. ‘The man is described as appearing to have doen en- ergetic, with strong French characteristics, The little doy, Emil, was a handsome child, and loved devotedly by both his parents. None of the relatives of we family were at the house yesterday, but bad gono to Belicvue Hospital, where Mrs. Blane ts lying.
