Over one-half of to-day’s transactions were con- fined to Lake Shore, It was the sentry on post while ‘all the rest of the guard were sleeping, A remarkably wide-awake sentry nt that, for the only lively tasillade of the session was about the Lake Shore position, The extremes in prices were 543; and 55%, witb an eighth | City sixes, old. ap- | City sixes, new. decline from the botter price at the close, There pears to be no change from yesterday's status as de- scribea in the Hxraty, The Mills party have beeu Steady buyers, while the shorts have showm them- Selves’ more und more anxious to cover on each trac. tional advance. 1t would seem that Jay Gould, de spite of his Vacific Mail defeat, still retains the most of bis “downy cove” eharacteristics, and has applied them tn quieuy picking up ge line of stocks, while, to at! appearance, ho wasa seller, This, at lesst, is the @rowing belief to-day, and accounts for the general des're (0 close up short cuntracis, as it also does for the Birongth of tue morkct The good example exhibited by Lake Shore in the iy dealings quickly showed ils salutary :niluence in she otner speculatives, prices creeping uo a few trac- tions, though with an insignificant amount of business, Altor midday there was somewhat of a relapse, when most of the brokers were at tiffin, but they seemed to have brought back something with them that tended to stimulate the market, for the wheels were soon set going again and whirled on steadily to the close, If the commission orders were § meagre as over there was ut least afresh baich of patriots developed, which is better than no result at all on a dull day. Lehigh Navigation, gold joan., ‘TI BONANZAS, The disparity of price between the shares of Cone solidated Virginia and those of the California Company conutioues to widen, the quotation at this morning's board being 63 for ono and 75 for the other, and holders are growing anxious and asking any questions, which tho brokers here are unable to answer, The general market in San Francisco 1s down, and evidently an unusnal state of excitement exists there, Heretofore it has been the habit of the bonanza kings to step ia at the last moment and rescue the market from the grip of the bears, and our people, boing chiefly bulls, are hopefully expecting a demonstration of that kind from Flood & Q’Brien, ‘The latest newspuper reports aro to the effect that the California mine is yiciding 350 tons of ore daily, and the Consolidated Virginia 550 tons. The month’s yiela of the latter mine, however, 1s ex- pected to be unusually light, owing to the stoppage of one of the mills and the delay in raising ore incident to repairs to shaft, If the decline iu the market for the shares is due sololy to this cause it can be but tem- porary at the worst. ‘The San Francisco papers are complaining that ‘‘not even the bonanza stocks are honored with a quotation in the New York market,” but we may , for their information, that as soon as the now Mining Board is organized the bonanzag and many other good mining shares will be regularly called hore, It is ex- pected that careful investors will gladly pay an ad- vancod price for certificates ready for immediate de- livery. A half per cent in favor of our market would draw hither large amounts of the stock and enable brokers and speculators to carry on a lively trade by purchasing in the cheaper and selling in the dearer market. There is no mining intelligence from San Francisco worthy ogspecial mention, MIXING STOCKS, ‘The following table of prices of the prominent gold and silver mining shares, ag received by telegraph from San Francisco, is furnished by Mr, William Ward, Drexel Building:— Juné 12. bar 13, i % ot a 15. ee Alpha......... 55 Declined Belch 18 i tt 7 i _ Bost & Be 53 52 an 48 Declined 5 Caledonia. 9 9 9 9 — California. 82 $1 7 ¥*75 Declined 5 Chollar Fotos). 86 86 83 85 Dechned 1 Con.
