The anthracite people aro finding themeel' with more coals than customers, with a plethora of produc- tion and a paucity of profits, and at the moment with no very assuring outlook for the future, ‘There was no special feature to Pacific Mail or the other speculative stocks, and the day was voted a dull and dreary one by a large majority. THE FOREIGN MARKET, The London advices report consols and American securities firm and higher in consequence of the caso and cheapness of money. The improvement was equal to per cent in consols and 3 to 4 per cent in United States bonds, the greatest advance in the latter being which sold at 1063, against 105% at the rate of discount in the open market for then ienths’ bills is 14g percent, or 34 per cont below the bank rate, Twenty-nine thousand = =pounds sterling went into the Bank of England to-day.
