And this was eariy exhibited in the perturba- tions of Lake Shore, which, however, manifested them- selves nearly altogether one way, and that in the direction of lower prices, Opening at 6334, it faded jay gradually, like a person in a decline, though ex- bibiting occasional spells of convalescence, and closing apatély. This was doing about as badly as it could do under the circumstances of moderate transactions and absence of any bear attack, and can only be ac- eounted for by the reports of further reduction in rates for freight between Chicago and New York and the despondency of the bulis, who find their bopes of a great spring rise day by day more and more illusive. THR BANK STATEMENT, Comparing the averages tor the week with those of fast week it appears that the total reserve has fallen 62,099,600, but making allowance for the decrease in thabilities the surplus reserve is down only 61,008,775, this surplus reserve is now $11,782,500. THE UNITED STATKS TREASURY. Washington advices state that the Treasurer holds $53,895,700 in bonds to secure national bank circula- thon, a decrease for the week of $1,300,000, Bonds held to secure public deposits, $15,671,500. National bank circumtion outstanding, $339,325,239, of which amount $2,009,190 are notes issued to gold banks, The internal revenue receipts to-day were $254,610; for the month to date, $6,613,702; for the fiscal year to Mate, $82,083,005. Customs receipts to-day, $699,697; for the month to date, $11,447,534; for the fiscal year to date, $111,249,114.
