PAUL RAUWAY CONSOLP DATED BONDS, The Milwaukee and St Pant Railway trowble was that described by a director to the HxnaLp correspondent yesterday :—It appears that the eld trustees applied t Mr, Tracy, the counsel of the Ilinois Central Railway Company, for advice as to their duties under the mort gage. Mr. Tracy advised Messrs, Levi $. Morton (Mor ton, Bliss & Co.) and Russell Sage thet the mortgage was admirably drawn, but was found to be more strin gent in its provisions than was compatible with equity and law, In saying this Mr. Tracy warned the trusteos that they were rendering themselves personally liabla It was therefore decided to make a new morjgage; a the same time the old one was permitted to stand. Be fore this decision was arrived at an amount involving OVER ONE MILLION OF DOLLARS was !ssued—not $800,000, as has been erroneously stated, This loan takes priority over the present com eolidated mortgages, of which the Farmers’ Loan ana ‘Trust Company are the trustees. There is no dispute as to the priority of the lien, and one capitalist alone is said to hold more of these mortgages than all of the combined directors who have gold their consolidated bonds under seventy per cent, while the quotation ta day is about eighty, There ts little likelihood, there fore, of an exchange being effected, and this disposes a the sensational stories afloat on Wall street for the past two days as to the companies, ‘THR PACIFIC MAIL STRAMSIIP COMPANY had to weather the storm yesterday of adverse rumors. A Hunatp reporter visited a gentleman, an ex-director, who said:—Under the administration of Vice President Scott the line has dmproved in efficiency; the profits havo largely increased and the indebtedness has beew | wonderfully reduced. By September 1 it is believea the floating debt can be paid off and the loan to the Panaina Railroad arranged from the earnings, It is confidently believed by the friends of the line that the three steamers building by Mr. John Roach will be settled for in cash, and in this case there will be AN AMERICAN MAIL FLEET of twelve first class iron ships and twenty-two wooden steamers which will do honor to any conntry.”” Whether these sanguine ideas are destined to be fulliiled it is um | possible to say. ‘The sensational despatches from Enropo presaginy financial trouble, are not generally credited, though wheat goes down three cents per bushel in this market—as it did yesterday—we must bravely meet the situation with the armor of commercial credit or the better shield of domestic economy, and “affect a virtue though we have it not.” THY FORGERIES OF REAL ESTATE sTxEs of the New York Central Railroad are still attracting | considerable attention in Wall street. The Herats Tepresentative waited on Mr, Sherman, the President nies’ Bank, vyesterda} . That official” refer to Mr. Cox, the "cashier, who laugh. ingly said:— ng new. We cannot tell whethes the bond or not. We have only four of the issue, and as Mr. Worcester, the Treasurer of the Cen- tral, Will arrive to-morrow, we are unable to determina whether these bonds are genuine or forged. As, howe ever, they were issued many years ago, and printed im the Ordinafy way, on common’ paper, {t would be am easy matter for them to be counierfeited. At all events the newspapers have BLOCKED THE GAM® | of the rogues, and it is likely no attempts will be made to push any of the bonds abroad.” The death of Mr. Max Heidelbach, of the firm of Heidel bach, Frank & Co., of Exchange ‘place, leaves the sue- cession to his son, Mr. Alfred Heidelbach, and the dru will be continued under the same name, TUR NEW YORK GUARANTY AND INDEMNITY COMPANY, in voluntary liquidation, have obtained leave of the Bank Department at Albany to reduce their capital frog $2,000,000 to $700,000. he condition of the affairs of the Commercial Ware house Company is still involved in doubt, owing ‘to the of the concern with Cuba. The estate is in a receivorsinp—not in the hands of an assignee. The creditors, therefore, are left in the dark as to the | ulumate outcome. \ As many inquiries have been made as to the road ni amed below, in relation to the late railway war in aagurated by the Missouri Pacifle, it may be aa well te state that the reorganization of the ST. LOUIS, KANSAS CITY AND NORTHERN RAILWAY * was accomplished January 2, 1872. The line of road fe from St. Lows, Mo., to junction (Hannibal and St miles, and the Moberly Junctior 146 miles; northwest of St. Louis to the State line Towa, 88 miles, being 353 miles in all. The total length of road owned the company is 353 miles, and with d limes make 504 miles:— St. Louis and Cedar Rapids Railroad. Boone County and Booneville Railroad, St. Louis and St, Joseph Railroad. Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad (junction to Kan- sas City)...... The sidings and other tracks compri A RIVAL STEAMSIIP COMPANY to the Paci! jail is eaid to be the Atlas line, now em gaged in the India trade, Among the rumors are those of a semi-monthly line from New York to Aspin- connecting with the Oriental and Occidental line to Yokohama and Hong Kong. This company, it will be remembered, is revived every once in a while, like the National Tolegraph Company, to give vitality ta stock jobs, which without this impetus would die of their own weight.
