Mr. A. R. Wetmore, Vice President of the society, occupied the chair. After an introduc- tory prayer from the Rev. Dr. Murray the ‘Treas- | arer’s report was read by Mr. Morris K. Jesup. Mingins then made a very touching appeal ior ald, as he told thuse present bow he had heen jorced to reduce his missionary stad trom nineteen males and nineteen temales to thirteen males and seven iemales. PITY THE POOR. The Howard Mission and Its Noble Work. ' 4 Meeting took place last evening at the Howard Mission Buildings, No. 40 New Bowery, at which Dine trustees, to serve the ensuing year, were elected. There was no other important business transacted. Now that the frosts of winter are Upon us this benevolent and unsectarian society, whicn for twelve years has held the first place in the grand Christian and charitable work of help- ing the poor, appeals most strongly to the New York public for ald in order to CONTINUE IT3 BENEFACTIONS. If those whose hearts are open to the appeals of mercy in behalf of the worthy unfortunates could only visit the Mission and there learn the good that devoted men and women are daily doing ‘their bounty would be douvied.
