HOLIDAY PRESENTS. 2 A PACTS ABOUT LADIES’ FURS. Frequently ‘ladies have furs which, to all outward ap- pearance, were reliable poet pooner but, atter being used a short time, they turned hgh nd the moths got in them and they soon became worthless, even when the greatest care had been taken to keep the moths out. The reason the moths gotin the turs was not from neglect of care, but because the skins from which they were made were not properly cured and dressed before being used for manufacturing. Unless skins are thoroughly deodorized and _prop- erly cured betore being used for manufacturing the pelt will breed worms for its own de- siruction, and the —fieece will be peculiarly attractive to moths. It is very essential therefore in buying furs to be sire that you nec those made from skins that were properly cured and dressed betore being used for manufacturing if you wish re iable and durable furs. are # great inany furs sold every s:ason which, to all outward appearances, are quite handsome 1d to be reliable, but they don’t wear well; re made from skins which were simply dried, not Aressed, s9 that after the furs get damp they are sure to breed moths soon become worthless, The dealers who sell this class of furs a as a@ general thing, men who intend to do aa fonest. business, but they don't know anything about the goods except the names of the different kinds of turs, The goods are sometimes picked up at auction; some- times of manuiacturers who make goods to sell at a price to the retailer, who buys to sellagain. When the Manufacturer makes furs trom simply dried skins he saves the extra cost of dressing, which isgenerally twenty percent. All the manufacturer cares tor is to sell the retailer a large bill. All the retailer cares for is to buy cheap, so that he can advertise | oat bargains—panic, panic. All the customer who buys the furs to wear cares for at the time of purchase is to geta bargain, So thatthe furs made from the dried skins find a market, because they are secmmingly cheap. But do they give satistaction? No! 1 generally turn out to be very dear goods. The ‘best is the cheapest, par- ticularly in furs Better pay & fair price for reliable goods, and be sure they are good, than throw away money on inferior goods because they appear cheap, There ix no garment which will wear as long as a good set of furs, and nothing adds so much to the appearance of a ‘gay ‘as a handsome set of sable, beaver, sealor mink, “It is the most suitable and useful article for & holiday present, and_no other garment is #0 much appreciated. In making your selection, therefore, buy of houses which sell reliable goods; you will alway get real value for vour money. U, C. SHAYNE & €O. corner Broadway and Tenth street (opposite Stewart's), manufacture and seli only strictly first class goods, They nave established the reputation of having the finest furs to be found, and are recognized as the leading tashion. able resort for reliable and elegant furs. ‘Their gooas are made trom skins taken in the season when the tur ts ful! and prime, and are thoroughly de= oderized and properly cured and dressed before being mado into Karmenta, so that every article offered for rule ispertect in every particular.
