A General Melee, On Thursday eveningas Terence Dunnigan and Martin Shultz, of No. 394 Eleventh avenue; James McKenney, of 242 West Thirty-third strect, and John Dowling, of 236 West Thirty-third street, were standing on Thirty-fourth street they were ac- costed by William Padion, residing on First avenue, who inquired the time of night. Dunnigan re- sponded and he moved on, but soon returned and commenced @ scuifle with his informant. As the result @ general row ensued, in which the leg of Padion was broken. ‘The at- tention of the police Len gl attracted, the whole Joe were arrested and taken to the station jouse. Here the surgeon directed Padion to be taken tothe Bellevue Hospital, and the others were arraigned before Justice Ledwith at the Jef- ferson Market Police Court yesterday, where counter complaints were made. During the ex- amination much excitement was caused in Court by Dunn falling into a fit, out of which he was brought by the efforts of the officers, and was held to bail in the sum of $500 to answer. The others were discharged. Embezziement. George H. Ferry, of 248 East 119th street, was charged by his employer, Rufus Smith, of 519 Broadway, with embezzling the sum of $8 in money and $54 in goods. He was held in the sum of $600 to answer. A WOMAN ARRESTED WITH POCKET. Mrs. Fairfield, who claims to reside in Syosset, Long Island, was arrested at Long Island City yos- terday morning, charged with stealing a watch from Mrs, Murphy, who resides on Ferry street, Mrs, Fairfield went to Mra. Murphy's house yester- day morning, stating that she had passed the night in the railroad depot, She said she wanted some washing done, and put on one of Mrs. Murphy's dresses. Mrs. Murphy is a widow lady, and her late husband’s watch was hanging above the man- telpiece. Mrs. Murphy Stepped out for a moment, leaving the lady alone, hen sve returned the watch was gone.
