For two years Connecticut land grabbers had @ndeavored tu obtain possession of Mystic Island, 4n Long {sland Sound. It was formerly known as “Ram Island,” and rightfully, belongs to the town of Southold, L,I. The Connecticut people claim ‘the island by a grant from the Colonial Governor in 1664. Old records show that soon after the eastern ‘towns had been ceded to Connecticut they were released and presumed to govern themselves. For More than two centuries the island has been Claimed by Connecticut. It is owned by William L. Brown comprises fourteen acres, and is assessed 6 books of Southold town as Worth $2,000. The ‘“Soanectous Legislature authorized the land grab- ‘bers to take session of it as Viet Con- necticut, fort the purpose of establishing tories, which are now considered nuisances in the popu- lous localities. The time for acticn having arrived the Suffolk county people have become awakened 10 a sense of duty. Albertson Case has examined the records as far back as 1664, and no title from the Crown or Colonial government is found in favor of the action of Connecticut.
