In the early part of the moraing it was the Governor's tatention to have made an elaborate speech aud to review his career since he has been in the United Staves Senate, At sour o'clock the Senator, who has been busy from early morn in receiving callers and polit | jeal deputations, was completely exhausted and was | compelied to retire to his room, complaining of a severe headache, and many feared that the large | crowd thai had assembled would be disappointed, | no Waving en opportunity of bearing him. At eight o'clock there was gathered in front of the Cataract House nearly three thousand persons, and in a few moments after the chairman of the committee, Mr, S. The barometer has falien since Monday night on the Middle Atlantic coast, and a smail area of low barometer is central over New Jersey. The low pressure im the Northwest has advanced northeast and eastward, and now | covers Lake Superior. The high barometer-in Penn- sylvania has noved to Maine. Southerly winds have prevailed west of the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains, but are now dying away. Brisk and high northeasterly winds have prevailed from Cape Hatteras to Cape Cod, but are now con- fined to New York, Clondy and rainy weather now prevails from Virginia to Maine, as also from Louisiana to Iilinor Probabilicies. The northeast storm whieh has advanced upon the New Jersey coast from the south wiil probably on Wednesiay extend northeastward over New England, The low pressure on Lake Superior will probably extend towards Lake Ontario, with fresh winds trom the south and east and rain north and east of Pennsyivamia.
