It will be remembered that Commissioner Pleasonton, a short time since awarded the contract for supplying this paper to the Hudson Paper Company, without con- sultation with Seeretary Boutwell. When the matter came to the knowledge of the Secretary he ordered that the contract be annulled, anil directed Commissioner Pleasonton to appoint a committee of experts to examine the sainples of aper, and then award the contract, as the mat- pt was an important one.
