On the sth of May Mayor Kalbfeisch sent a com- munication to the Board of Aldermen setting forth that the Board of Water and Sewerage Commissions had overdrawn their account for street cleaping for the ourrent year. The matter was referred to the Water and Drainage Committee, and at the next meeting of the Board the committee submitted a reportcensuring the Mayor byinuendo. The assessments amount to $70,000, ‘The matter was laid over for one week. A New Station House in Brooklyn. The new station house of the Tenth precinct, at the corner of Bergen and Pearsall streets, was for- mally opened to the public last evening. There ‘was a large company of ladies and gentlemen pres- ent, Who were courteously received by the genial Captain Oassidy, who escorted them about the elegant building. The new station house 1s a large three story brick structure, with brown stone trim- and contains all the modern improvements. It is probably the finest building of Its kind in yn. A pleasant feature of the reception last evening was vhe presentation of a gold badge to Capta Casio) by a numoer of the residents of the recinct. A Warning to Brooklyn Thieves. ‘The Brooklyn thieves recelve a warning to-day through a precautionary notice whioh the Chief of Police has given to citizens who purpose leaving their onsen during the summer months and ruasti- cating im the country. ‘The people will notify the captain of the precinct in which they reside, and the guardians of public peace and property will dave an eye on the premises while they are vacant. On Sunday morning a young man named John Fowler, living at Hempstead, shot himself in the head, but failed to kill himself.
