The week closed on almost stagnant markets, “Phe changes in prices were light and unimportant, ‘The dealings after tho morning board were purely nominal. The oficial figures of the cotton crop for the year ending september 1, 1970, as compiled by the Chronicle, are very Interesting. ‘The wtal crop reaches 3,154,946 bales, while the exports have been 2,178,917 bales, and the hume consumption 907,369 bales, leaving a stock on hand atthe close of the year of 59,747 bales. The stock of co(ton at the inte- rior towns, not included in the receipts, was 14,629 pates, against 718 bales last season. Tue total re- celpts at the Atlantic and Gulf-shipping ports this year have been 2,811,121 bales, against 2,100,428 bales tas} year. Breeze has been employed as foreman in the trunk manufactory of Messrs. Crouch & Fitzgerald, Nos. 352 and 354 West cumstances and much respected by all who knew | him, and seemed to have no serous trouble of any , kind. This being the case great consterna- tion was created among the workmen yes- terday morning from the fact that M Breeze had committed suicide by hanging himself with a small rope which he had attached 10 @ hook on the holst wneel on the top floor. The body was instantly cut down, but was cold and stilt, indicating that life had been extinct for some time. The family of deceased, which had been absent in the country, only returned a day or two since. The causes which prompted Mr. Breeze to take his own life may be developed before Coroner Schirmer, who was notified to hold an inquest on the body. Mr. Breeze was thirty-seven years of age and a native of New York. BURGLARIES AT NEWBURG. Aten early hour on Friday morning the country residence of Dr. T. B.
