Acquittalss Before Recorder Hackett. Assistant District Attorney Tweed conducted the prosecution yesterday. Louisa Freeman, a respectable travelling agent, ‘was charged with feloniously appropriating a trunk containing $200 worth of clothing, the property of Mrs. Morton. The circumstances showed that the ladies had a difficulty respecting the payment of board. Having proved an excellent character, the jury promptly rendered a verdict of not guilty. Bernard Carroll, who was charged with attempting to break into the !iquor store of George Longworth, 142 Chorry street, on the night of the lst of June, ‘was also acquitted. Jobn Ford, who was charged with stealing a chest ‘of toa worth $40, the property of Gillies & Co., pleaded (ns to an attempt at grand lareeny. He ‘was sent to the Penitentiary for two years. William A. Smith was Mears with stealing $70 from the moriey drawer of William Kohler, on the ist of May, but the evidence being insufficient to sustain the indictment, the accused was found not guilty.
