The State and County Nominees—A Clean Walk Over” for Tammany—Tho Outside Factions Demoralized and Dishear‘ened. Tammany has never had such an easy triumph that which she is destined to achieve on Tuesday Bext, Some few months ago tt was foolishy ima gined that THE OLD REGENCY had been completely squetched, that its power ana popularity were forever gowe, and that the reign of Shilellah law and knock-down arguments would be instituted as the true exponents of democratic re- form in the metropolis, The old leaders showed that they were still masters of politica! policy. They loosen- ed their bold on the reins apparently, aud the so-called YOUNG DEMOCRACY in thelr fancied freedom ran wildly ahead and choked themselves to death by struggling when they reached the end of the tether. Then the old leaders stepped in again, took up the reins and drove on to Victory. Then the young democracy, who were evi- dently fighting only for a larger share of the spoils: than they nad enjoyed, crept back—or as many as could forget the blatant assert.ons they had made of Self intesrity and the Tammany leaders’ corruption crept back—and became foremost among the fore- Most in making up the slates for the coming elec: tion. In allowing these ° SOI DISANT REFORMERS to come in and take such prominent parts tn their deliberations the Tammany leaders have shown their usual shrewdness, They have shown that the de- claimers for reform were not very anxious to do anything to benefit the c.ty and its taxpayers, were ready to Low to the old power for place or recogni- ton, and could forget that they had chirged al manner of wrong on fhe old leaders ; while ‘Tam- many, seizing the opportunity of a democratic State government, gave to the city a local government against which there could be no cavil, and which, even thus early, has won the confidence and sup- port of the community at large. Not only in the plan for the new regime of city government have the Tammany leaders showa much sagacity, but in mak.ng up their ALDERMANIC SLATE they have demonstrated that they can consult vailed into-rests in such @ manner as to conduce t the pabi ¢ good and piace in _nomina ton men wh have been tried aud not fond wanting, The nomi- nations were not floally settled unt | yesterday, and when they were made known they were received with general satisfaction: tirs!, because in view of services fenderr.l it was supposed that a mafority of those named would be cho en; and, second, because tioge who are now in the tleld have cla ms on the party which cannot be g msiyed. The work of making vp the siate has been a tedions and trying task ad has been most care ully studied and car- ied out, The strong ticket that has been presente by ‘Tammany, both for Judges and Aldermen, has had the effect of aps , FRIGHTENING THE OUTSIDE FACTIONS, and although they came tozetaer and cooced up a Ucket ther candidates weak *ned so raptily that their party (!) was ovliged to withdraw from the contest and acknowledge iiself defeated, This, of cours, leaves the election in this city entirely to Tammany, and the following ticket will therefore be elected in this city without aay troube, ‘foe republicans, of course, were compelied to make some show of opposition, and for that purpose have made nominations, There cau be no doubt, however, as to tne result, and the democratic party willadd another victory to its already easily won battles on Tuesday next. ‘The Candidates, The following is a list of the candidates in nomina- tion:— COURT OF APPEALS. os Rep.
