At present the police autiorities are unabie to give more than a mere guess at the scheme of forgeries alieged to dave been committed by ther prisoners, aud it will probably be some days believe any decided steps-can be taken in tue matter. MULTING CF THE KINGS COUNTRY REPUR- LIWAN GENERAL COMMITIEE. The Kings Veunty Republican General Committee Met last night-at their headquartera in Washington street, Brooklyn, Silis P. Dutcher in the chair, Mr. William Richardson, chairman of the committee appointed to investigate the charges preferred against W. H.N. Cadmus before the Eight Ward Association, reported that he received money for the Ward assooiation and appropriated the sawe for his own use; that a Mr. Martin gave bim twenty dollars to pay four men to electioneer at the poll, and that the Money was.not paid over until the mvestigation was commenced in January. Mr. Joseph Reeve then submitted @ minority re- rt, woreing fortn that “in regard to Mr. Cadmus aving collected money for the ward association, Cadmus did collect the sum of thirty dollars, and publicly acknowledged it, but did not pay it to the treasurer of the ward until some two months after the election, on account of anold claim he had against the association, before the ward was divided, of fifteen dollars, which had been ac- knowledged by the Twenty-second Ward Agso- ciation and ordered to be pald as goon as the treasurer was in funds, Mr. Cadmus in January, 1860, paid over to the treasurer of the Bighth ward fifteen dollars and took a receipt in full for all moneys collected by him up to date, in- tending to pay the note with the money due him by the Twenty-second ward association, which amount has never been paid to Mr. Cadmus.” The case, therefore, sums up, in the opinion of the gentleman resenting the minority report, “that Mr. Cadmus 1s lebted to the Eighth Ward Association fifteen dol-* lara, aad that the Twenty-seconu Ward Association owes him fifteen dollars. There was no intention on the part of Mr. Cadmus to defraud the Eighth Ward Association, but woald recommend that ne be censured for not settling bis accounts with the trea- gurer at an earlier day. A warm debate ensued upon the presentation of both reports. Mr. Reeve, im the course of a Speech made by him on the subject, assert- ed that in regard to the two witnesses upon Whose testimony the majority report present- ed by Mr. Richardson was based, be had to in- form the committee that one was an illicit distil- ler, and the other, who had been a conductor on Richardson’s railroad, had been discharged by that gentleman for jying. Mr. Richardson, in reply, stated that his discharging the conductor alluded to from his employ had as much to do with that committee a8 whether the moon was made of green cheese or any other material. Mr. Cadmus at this point begged to ask Mr. Richardson why it was uf that conductor was worthy of belief in apy matter ouside of raiJroad business he remeed to give him a Jeter of recommendation? The reply was that he (Mr. Richardson) was not on trial before t com- mittee for his method of conducting his rajiroad. Botsterons calls were then made for the queetion, which, upon being taken, the minority report was adopted by a vote of 38 for and 17 against. The General Committee then adjourned.
